I would like to take my Sun EZ-3 trike on my travels. Sun said any 4 bike rack would work. Does anyone have any advice about purchasing a hitch mount rack that will safely carry my trike; and once purchased, how to mount the trike on the rack? My budget is around $200.

Granny, I haul my wifes trike inside my 96 Blazer, but I have to put down the handlebars and the seat backrest. Then I put my EZ1-AX on my 4 bike carrier, I have the Thule 4 bike carrier rack that fits into my 2 inch hitch on my blazer. You should be able to carry that trike on just about any bike rack, as long as you get the balance right and another person to help you lift it.

Good Luck

Trike Bike Racks (http://www.hitchrider.com/trikes.htm)

This is a site that has racks just for these kinds of bikes.

Thanks for the info Curt. I am guessing that the 4=bike rack is recommended to allow for the trike's wheel clearance? I am also wondering if the cross bar on the EZ_3 is problematic because of the slight slant of the frame, yet I do not see how a top tube adapter could be installed.

Sounds as if they expect you to lift it onto a rack? At worst, that's about 50lbs., not including any add-ons.

This may not be a cheap solution, but here's a custom-made rack for an EZ-3 by a member of the MNHPVA:

Good luck.

Thanks for all the suggestions and will follow up on them! I am also wondering if a Softride Access 4-bike hitch mount might also be an option.
