Winter Cycling - So, you think it's over??

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have lived in the vicinity of Chicago most of my life. Do I think(it) winter is over? Maybe officially, but unofficially? No! " April is the cruelest month"

Damn, here in sunny Virginia it is 40 and raining. I talked to my buddy at the bike shop. He said, "usually we're so busy at this time of year, we can't see straight. With this weather, nobody's in the store."
Winter may be over, but spring sure has not yet arrived.
Amen velogirl! After several failed attempts to get together and ride with Velogirl this past week, I figured we better wait until the next time I get back there and the weather is summer-like! God was trying to tell us something! ;)
Now, it's supposed to be 70 F on Tuesday and 65 F on Wednesday in Chicago. I don't think winter is over, but I'll take what I can get.

Yep, we'll have better luck next time, Koffee, and hopefully my work won't be so crazy (but since when has it NOT been?). I even bought a DC area bike map to give to you for your visit! I'll hold on to it for you.

With so few posts in the winter cycling forum, I would suspect winter has now run its course.
My winter gloves are packed away and its time to get the road bike ready to roll.

Maybe it's time to give the winter forum over to the Aussie and Kiwis, cuz winter is done up here, so stick a fork in her.
Just when you say that, we get snow in Chicago. Nuh-uh. I'm not saying it's over for sure until at least June.

You poor thing. We hit close to 80F today. We'll pay for it in August but for now I'm gloating. If it makes you feel any better, I'm probably gonna get slammed by rain on the way home.

Although the "official" shade temps have only been in the nineties, the "real feel" temps on the sun-drenched roads of Houston this past week-end were closer to 110 degrees. So, I'm suspecting winter is over.

Ha. My buddy just got back to Houston from an eight-month federally funded vacation in Iraq, and he said Houston's hotter.

It was 120 degrees on my patio yesterday. I'm starting to suspect winter is over. AND, tomorrow is June 20th, which might be another clue...
Cool and cloudy today in VA. I'm waiting for my sister-in-law to get back from her meetings so we can go for a ride into DC. This is after last week with blistering hot temperatures. It's a welcome respite from continuously high temps. :)
