Just saw nashbar is having a sale for the weekend. There is also a coupon code for 10% off cr201. You use it at checkout.

I just used that code online and it worked. But, I did not realize Nashbar charges sales tax even for out of state orders online (this is only my second order from them - first was several months ago). Oh well, at least the discount covered the tax.

Must depend what state you're in...I just received an order from them this week and didn't get charged sales tax.

Those bastiges! ;)
Well, this wasn't a large order, the tax only came to around 3 bucks, so no biggie really this time. But, I'll be sure to watch for it on all future orders. I don't think I've ever had an online retailer charge tax on out-of-state orders before.
Nashbar has charged sales tax for My orders from Virginia, since I started using them three years ago.

they must be affiliated to something that has a presence in your state

i believe if they have a shipping warehouse out of your state they must charge tax...even if it didn't ship from that location.
I get charged sales tax in NC even though many of my orders shipped from the midwest (I think Performance and maybe Nashbar has offices in Chapel Hill, NC).
Oh well, can't beat the system forever. Policticians are always talking about going back on not charging sales tax for internet orders.

Since Nashbar and Performancebike (and Supergo for that matter) belong together they have to charge taxes for every state where there is either of them represented in some form (e.g. Performancebike store).
Something like that was the reply when I asked about taxes while placing a phone order with Nashbar some time ago.
Performance and Supergo both have retail stores in Washington State. You're hosed. =)

I'd rather pay sales tax than over-inflated s&h charges anyday.... At least the tax money goes to a good cause like feeding 3 hot meals to a mass murderer living in the State Pen, while the homeless are digging thru dumpsters to eat....
