well, not really traded, but i sold my old converted schwinn fixie and used that towards a new IRO mark v pro. The schwinn just wasn't made to be a fixie, so i finally gave in a got an actual track bike. This bike is great and it was CHEAP(relatively). Tony was the nicest person I've ever met, I talked to him and his wife over the phone today about getting a bike and he was able to have one ready for me to pick up a few hours later. I had to go out to staten island for it, but it's no problem. I would recommend him to anyone looking to get a new bike. Screw the Pista, IRO is the way to go as far as i'm concerned.

Got to agree with the IRO Mark "V" series. It does however have more roadish geometry than trackish. Tony is a good guy to do business with. My IRO Mark "V" was finished the otherday and I found I went a little short on the stem. Got my new stem yesterday and it is now complete. It rides great. Took it out for a fixed 20 mile run today and ran most of it at 20/21 mph. Handled well and I'm hooked.

Ouch...hurtful words... and yes I did. You need to learn to appreciate the quality of Chicago schwinns. I only sold it because it doesn't fit me and I don't have room to keep it. I suggest you try out a Chicago fillet brazed schwinn, it's a tank but its a good ride.

i'm teasing you, please know. my first "road bike" was an electro-forged schwinn "continental". it weighed about as much as a lincoln continental.

Gotcha...no worries. I picked up my schwinn frame with only fork, bar and crank on it and it still weighs the same as my specialized road bike... like i said, a tank.

Now if you want to see a great Chi Schwinn the Superior and Sport Tourer were marvels. Fillet brazed. I sand blasted a Sports Tourer and could then see the fillet brazing and subsequent sanding took a lot of work. They were a little on the heavy side, but nothing like a Continental or Varsity.

The turd we were refering to is a 65' supersport in radiant coppertone(I love the sound of that color, even when i'm typing it.) The fillet brazed frames are awsome...i'm gonna start to look for one in my size so i can have a bike in Cali for when i go visit the folks.

Kinda off topic (as mine is still a 10 speed), but I gotta chime in. I love my Chicago Schwinn Super Sport. Yeah, it may weigh more than my dog (not really, though), but its worth it for the handbuilt frame. You just can't find that kinda stuff cheap anymore.

I'd be down for couple of loops at the park, but I'm shamefully out of shape, did a few on my roadie this morning and was embarrassed at how slow i went and how hard a time I had getting up the hills, so I don't know if I can handle loops on my fixie just yet. Saw a guy on a pista zoom past me with his chrome a' shinin'... Let me know if you want to take a really really slow couple of laps, maybe just wait till I get in shape cuz i'm seriously suffering on the hills.

I'm good for tomorrow cuz i'm gonna go into the city so I think the bridge and going uptown is enough punishment for one day, but lets try for next weekend or something, then i'm definately down for a ride.
Oh... and it's in my room instead of the living room so i can look at it before i pass out and when i wake, did the same with my roadie.
