So I guess since you guys pulled all of these tricks off of a ramp, then jumping can't count as a first trick. Will any trick count queensrider?

Well jumping off of a ramp is a definet skill you have to have, or else you'll screw yourself on the landing. (you may not even get that far if you don't know what you're doing) But yeah, I'd have to agree, it's more of a skill thing, not a trick.

And hey queensrider, I'm guessing that that 'yea' was directed towards my question, so I'd have to say that the first trick I learned was wheelies. Then very very shortly after that endos, but they weren't very good ones. And my first air trick was an x-up. I'm not that great at wheelies, my farthest one I've ever done was around 35 feet. My freind can do 120 foot wheelies though, he's pretty good at them.

i'm surprised you can already x-up. x-ups don't sound like much but im sure that 75% of the people on these forums can't do it. You should start trying x-up grinds

Well, I would try them (x-up grinds), but I can't grind.....unfortunetly. BUT!! I will be shreding stuff up eventually, I know it! We still haven't had the time to attach that grind rail we made to my fun box, but when we do I'm definetly going to put my pegs on and try it out. And you're right, you wouldn't think that x-ups are that hard, but if you don't keep your balance in the air, and get it straight before you land, then you are definetly screwed. I think it is actually a pretty fun trick, you can link it to a lot of different stuff. Oh, BTW, I always ride with my right leg in the front and my left leg to the back, does anyone know which side would be the best side to grind on for me? I do almost ALL of my tricks the best to my left side, so I don't know if that would help narrow it down. I know in the end it's what I like, but I was just wondering which side would be a good one to start with, since I don't want to have to be running all four pegs because, huh, that is just plain to bulky.

i checked this 1 bloke do a x-up crooked on a rail to 180 to 1/2 cab 180 manual. was MAD style. :D

people say grind right. i grind right and i keep my left foot in front. i spin clockwise, i whip clockwise. i think it's preference.

Tail Whip. I hit a 6ft long step up when I was 11 and I Whiped it. But I didn't know what it was until my friend told me.

Edit: Why did I say stepup? I ment Double!! Sorry bowt that...I can understand it being hard to do a tail whip on a stepup...

Mine was sitting on the handlebars facing backwards and having my sis on the seat facing me as I pedaled backwards . Front brakes and a dyslexic trigger finger introduced me to the opposite of a face plant : the "back plant" . To my highschool buddies amazement , I learned to do it on my 10 speed . Girls thought I was nuts , but at my 20th class reunion last year , a couple asked me if I still did "tricks" . I wonder what they meant....?

My first trick was either a 180 to rollback or a manual(if they count). I was to afraid to go to the skatepark and try tricks when I started last year so I just bike in the street and learned to manual like 50 feet before I even tried to go on the ramps.

It depends if your left handed or right handed. What is your dominent foot? Remeber just because your right handed...that dont meen that your right foot is your dominent on (or vise-versa). To find this out...fall forward and whatever foot you put out automaticaly to catch yourself is your dominent foot. Whatever one that is should be the side that your pegs go on. and for more balance when you grind...you should get skid plates on your pedals. I have them but i dont have pegs! I can do some neat tricks with just the skid plates but you will have a bit better balance with both pegs and skid plates.

aren't you the kid with that online bike shop? if not, my fault.

it just sounds hard to believe that an eleven year old kid does a tailwhip on a stepup, and doesn't even know what it is. and it even sounds hard to believe you did half of a whip and brought it back around. it is really hard to get a whip going, then stop, and come back.

and by the way, your earlier statement contradicted itself

Bike shop? No I dont have a shop. And I new the basis of a tail whip but I Have never seen one done. And it wasnt intentionaly done so I was trying my hardest to get back into a straight position. And I think it is hard to do a tail whip on a stepup because im a n00b...but in not ashamed because sooner or later I will get better.

Thanks for the tips. I thought at first I was going to grind on my left side, but now since my dominent foot is my right foot I think I'll try to grind on the right side first. Again, thanks for the tips.

don't listen to this kid, he knows less than you. just bunnyhop next to a curb and land your front tire on the curb to learn the motion of a feeble

Oh. I guess I didn't notice he knows less than I do. Well, just because someone knows more than another person doesn't mean they still can't learn from them. And isn't a feeble a kind of grind? How can you grind on a curb, aren't they too low?

queensrider86

i mean, just put your front tire on the curb and have your back tire rubbing on the curb. when it seems really easy, apply that to a ledge

Oh, cool. That's a good idea except that I don't have any curbs to try stuff on. I live out in the country (well as much in the 'country' as you can get, it's not like I'm on a farm or anything like that) so I don't have access to anything like that. But thanks for the suggestion.

Well, I don't have a job, and we don't live in an area that have houses like you're talking about. We live away from the city and the only chance I have to get my bike and myself close to urban things like that are if my dad drives me to a skatepark or some other thing similar to that. But once I get my drivers, I'm hoping on being able to drive myself to some skateparks and stuff like that. I'm already taking the learners permit courses.

Well I have two friends in my neighborhood, one right next to my house, and one right across the street from my house. Then later sometime in the after noon, we go out and ride around the neighborhood. But we mostly ride in my big driveway and jump ditches and stuff. Sometimes we go out into the street (a very small two-lane road) and practice stuff there too when we need more room. I like my neighborhood a lot, it's perfect for what I want (besides lagging in some urban stuff) and I've had lots of fun riding around.
