Just picked this up as it has been a while since I have immersed myself into Korean culture- it is the story of two brothers and their involvement in the Korean war. A really interesting perspective of the Korean side of this war. More personal than Saving Private Ryan, yet almost as gruesome and horrifying. I liked it, even if at times it was overly dramatic. But like I said, it was more personal and I know that the sympathies from the nation divided by that war are still in transition - four S. Korean students defected to north korea when I was over there. Some of my university students in Seoul still held North Korea as a fellow country, not as a communist scourge. I do not know enough about that side of the issue of North and South Korea to speak more intelligently, but someday I would like to be able to since my time spent over there never really began to answer my questions. But that is for another day...or trip over there.
If you like wartime action dramas, this is a great movie. It did a good job at some of the historical potrayal of the war too, so another plus here.
Overall, 4.5 out of 5 stars.
