Mountain Biking - I crashed *pics*

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I was out riding today, and I hit this jump a bit faster than usual. If you hit it at normal speed, you land on the smooth dirt hill, but instead I landed on the gravel at the bottom, a little crooked. I ate it at about 15mph, and the gravel took its toll on my knee, elbow and palm. Knee being the worst, I'll have a big scar there in a couple weeks.

The knee is nice, and it looks like it will be a painful heal. You should have shaved your legs..I dunno if I would have bothered taking a picture of the arm, though.

You need shin pads, elbow pads are annoying so leave those out. They should leave a nice set of scars.

Scars rule. I have ground both of my legs into hamburger more than once, my favorite part is trying to move the next day and having the scabs tear!!

Having the scab tear is the worst.
No, you know what? Having the bandage grow into the scab and then having to tear the scab off is the worst.
But good luck to ya MadMan. I have a couple scars on my knees from cuts like that, oddly enough, healing hurts more than getting the cut.

forum: I believe it. Putting peroxide on it to clean it out was 10x worse than the wreck itself.

I think it's because you wreck it's so sudden you're just going "Woah, I got hurt. Heh, whatever, lets keep going."
But then later, you're staring at it holding the bottle of peroxide going "Oh **** this is gonna hurt..." and then it does.
i fell today too... doing a stepdown (with blind landing) some how my leg got under my bike and something (i dont know what or how) smashed my leg, and i got a wicked be charlie horse... i thought i broke it again. It gave me a bit of a scare

Wow, I don't think I could get my leg under my bike while riding if I tried:eek:
Sounds like it hurt, I haven't broken my leg riding yet.
.... knock on wood..... i broke mine once at the end of spring and once at the end of summer last year... it sucked huge

"knock on wood" is right, note the "yet":D
Last summer I was riding down stairs and my mom said "Don't do that, you're gonna break something." I responded with the usual "Ok mom." and proceeded to ride down the stairs anyway. Well the second time I rode down I hit it a bit too fast and fell off my bike.
End story, two fingers broken and a big fat "I told you so." from my mom.
Moral of story? Mom is always right.

If it makes you feel better, MadMan, I can take a pic of my left knee and show you all the scars I have from cycling. :p It's true though.

i havent been riding (seriously) for very long, but i've stacked my fair share of times but strangely, i really dont have any noticable scars. is this because im not going big enough, or am i just smart?
Bones heal, chicks dig scares and glory lasts for ever. Any way don't worry, as the black knight would say, "it's only a scratch":p HAve a nice recovery, I have just recovered from a knee injury (mmmmm stitches) the worst part is bleeding all over yourself and having the cut rub on the inside of your shinpad. Oh and DJP1... you are an idiot :p

Today, walking around was pretty painful due to the big scab at what's apparently one of the more frequently stretched parts of skin.
Wonder how long this crap will last...
