For the past week I have been going back and forth over which recumbent to buy. None of them are very cheap so I want to get it right the first time. Today it got more difficult.

Up until this morning I was going back and forth between the Rans Rocket and the V-Rex. Believe it or not, after I took another test ride I may be opting for the Rocket. But there was yet another recumbent I tried: A Sun EZ Tadpole. Houston, we have a problem.

The moment I got on this thing I thought I was about to pilot something out of Area 51: This thing is COOL. It's not very fast but it's extremely fun! It is supposed to weigh around 50 lbs but to me it doesn't feel like it. I feel like I could easily pick it up and put it in a car.

I was curious to know if any Sun Tadpole owners had any negative things to say about it? It does boggle the mind of how cheap it is and makes me wonder if Sun cut any corners (besides parts.)

This weekend I will be putting money down on _something_. I really can't live like this because I'm going coo-koo, coo-koo!

The sun tadpoles are quite new, so nobody has any long term test results. Sun makes a good product, if a little heavy. If you liked the trike action, there are lots of others to try, also good used lighter trikes in your price range. The only other new trike that cheap is the KMX X-class from the UK. Also quite new in the US, they've been selling kid size tadpoles across the pond for a while.

The Catrike pocket is close to the same price depending upon your size, it's a lot lighter, smaller, faster, sportier and some reports say its a touch twitchy.
The EZ tadpole does seem good value for money.
If you go to bentrideronline.com you will find reviews of both trikes and they have been heavily discussed on the message board.
Goodluck with your purchase.

I got my Sun tadpole a few days ago. Only negative thing so far is the rear derallier is sometimes a little slow shifting the chain. Hoping that goes away once I get some miles on it and take it back to the LBS for it's check-up. Other than that, it's a blast. Now I just have to remember to lean into the turns!
