Mountain Biking - I kinda got screwed on eBay...but maybe not, help!

Hey, I just bought a new full suspension free ride frame on ebay. THe seller said it was a Medium sized frame (which is 18" with KHS). I took it out of the box and immediatly knew it was a Small (16"). I am about 5'11 and am skinny at around 145-150 pounds. My first bike was fitted for me and it was a 19", but "my boys" seemed to be a bit cramped by the top tube, so I figured an 18" would be great. Now I'm not sure if I should use the 16", it just seems so small...what do you guys think? I can ask the seller for a refund and go get a different frame, but that means more waiting :mad:

If it doesnt fit then you wont want it, demand a refund with the right sized frame, you'll be happy you did :)

well, I'm not totally sure it wont fit...can other people who are around 5'11 to 6'0 tell me if 16" is too small, it just sounds too small...like, WAY too small

im 5'4'' and i ride a 13'' framei like it that bit smaller as its easier to throw around for jumps and stuff.

I'm 5'10 and I ride a 16. I actually prefer smaller frames.

I'm 5'4, 95 pounds and I ride a 15" Hardrock, I prefer it this small for more control.

Well im 5'8 and ride a 17 inch frame, but the geometry will be different for your bike so we cant really comment much.

I'm 6'1 and ride a 17.5". The real thing that you should be concerned with though is your inseam from what I've heard. For a freeride frame though, usually riders like them to be a little small so that they can maneuver it better and they have a little more clearance.

If it doesn't end up fitting then definately ask for a refund. It takes some of the fun out of riding to have to ride a bike that doesn't fit right.

If it were me, I'd get a refund. No way would I settle for something other than what I paid for. 16" sounds too small for you anyway.

If you're seriously considering keeping the bike, though, make sure you can get your reach set up properly without using too long of a stem. Also, and perhaps more important, make sure you're able to set your saddle back far enough to have a plumb line from your forward knee intersect the pedal spindle when the cranks are at the 3 and 9 o'clock position.

The only thing that he may have to be careful about is if he builds the frame up then he may not be able to get his money back. Your best bet would probably be trying to get your money back or a different frame (If it's a store).

yea thats a good point. THen i would start emailing the seller to arrange something

Get your money back; you did not get what you paid for. If the seller is not receptive to taking the item back, eBay has ways of helping you handle the problem. I can't speak for the FR aspect, but I rode an XC bike that was too small once and it totally sucked.

Don't leave a feedback if you haven't already. Instead, you should immediately contact the seller and tell the seller it's a SMALL. Provide a link to a neutral website that has a lot of information about bike sizes (like parktool.com or something like that). Tell them you want a refund because the small doesn't fit your height or weight AT ALL. If you can't get the refund, leave a negative response and notify ebay of fraud committed by the seller.

Try everything you can to quickly resolve it. Make sure they pay for shipping and handling if you have to send the bike back. You shouldn't have to pay for their lie.

Never settle when it comes to something like this. They knew they embellished so they could sell the bike, and if you settle, it's like telling them it's ok to lie.

As most of the others have said, I'd definitely send it back and get a full refund, or an actual medium frame if it's a shop that sold it to you. Oh, and of course you shouldn't have to pay for the shipping (you already paid for the "right" one to be shipped).

This guy @ work is about 5'10" tall, but I swear his legs are only 1/3 of his body height. He's like real long torso'd.... Funny looking, so it's hard to say if any bike would fit someone w/o actually seeing them in person. You guys know what I'm talking about too. You remember that really good looking girl that was about your height, but her legs reached all the way up to heaven. (All legs in otherwords)
