I was gifted a bike today which I gladly and immediately used for parts.

There were no markings on the bike, but the frame said "made in Japan" and most of the parts were from Japan too. The lugged frame seems pretty heavy for a road bike, but the components are pretty good - certainly useable.

Anyway, there aren't any marks on it anywhere to identify the maker. Attached is a sketch of the headbadge design which only further fuels the mystery. Any ideas what make of bike this is?

can you take some pics of the bike? My guess is Nishiki or Univega

The bike is mostly parted out. I am taking the bones on a tour I organized for this weekend just in case somebody needs an emergency part we could canibalize from this machine.

I will remove the head badge and scan it.

Not bad parts; nice Sugino aluminum cranks, Araya aluminum rims - other stuff worth using.

I already have one of the bike's wheels, the stem, the headset bearings, and other headset parts in action and on the road. It also had a kickstand which is now on a friend's bike.

Nothing goes to waste at Mike's garage.

I doubt it's a Nishiki. Usually there's a little shield-like thing on the front above the wheel and/or it's clearly painted on the frame.
