One interesting point is that It may draw out some Euro teams who are looking for early season alternatives to Tour Down Under/Qatar. If it were placed in the middle of the season surrounded by protour events I think it would be hard to attract any top european talent.
Procyclingnews.com had an interview with the DS at Suanier Duval, Joxean Fernández Matxin. he said this about races in the states:
" Will you make any of the trips with the team to the US in 2005?
Matxin: I’d really like to, but we have some very important races in Europe at the very same time. For example, the Tour of Georgia and the Tour de Romandie fall on the same dates. Philadelphia falls on the same date as Euskal Bizikleta and finally San Francisco falls on the same dates at the Vuelta a España."
If they did it in march would it be better?

At least they're going to have one. Sounds like good news to me.
