whats the wierdest spoke pattern youve seen or heard of?
I'm not sure this is the weirdest but it's certainly bound to be strong. :)

I've also seen some twisted/intertwined spoke lacing but I can't seem to find a good picture of one.

FULL ON!!!!! they must take an hour to lace and the sme to tension and true! nice.
I recently laced a 32 hole White Industries hub to a 16 hole Zipp rim. It is a one cross pattern.

You could try a spiral pattern it would put increadable torque on your hub.

A normal takes me an hour to lace and at least two to true (unless I'm lucky). 144 spokes would take all day.
The wheels on my BMX are laced pretty funky; the front is crow's foot (two 2x spokes and 1 radial spoke in a 'set', with 8 sets on each side (its a 48h wheel), and the rear is the same but with full radial on the non-drive side.
I built up a front wheel for that bike a few years ago with a spiral pattern using 4x spokes (all spokes on each side point the same direction, so no crossovers). Looks cool but is probably hell from a physics point of view.

heres a spoking pattern i developed myself, so you can lace a 28 hole hub to a 36 hole rim. its a pain to true, probably isnt strong, and ive never actually ridden the wheel i built with the pattern, but it looks neat and different.

I laced a cross two crows foot on a 36 hole Eddco hub and a campy omega tubular. It was a radial spoke with spokes crossing across it hence the crows foot. I built it 15 years ago and it's still going strong a nhardly ever needs truing. By the way I built it with 15/16/15 dt's and alloy nipples.

i always go with cross 4..or i'll bust spokes ..lol
those lowrider non crossing pattern sucks for torque
i still use a set of rims i built 25 years ago with suzi hubs araya rims and .145 spokes.......indistuctable!!
