Have you tried wrapping the threads on the cups with teflon pipe thread tape (hardware store - 99 cents) and reinstalling them? You have to wrap the tape the same direction as the cup threads into the frame or it will unwrap itself as you thread it back into the frame.

Not sure why it works, I can only theorize that the teflon distributes itself into any spaces between the cups and the BB housing and arrests any movement in that area.

Another thought is it may not be your BB at all, perhaps the seat or bar clamp or even your cleat / pedal interface and the sound is transmitted through the frame and then appears to come from the BB area.

nah this happened before exact identical same sound happened.. and then i changed it and it was fine.

Two more thoughts. Have you re-checked your crankarm bolts for proper torque after riding the new BB a few times? Could the hole in the crankarm that seats on the BB spindle be worn beyond the point where it will stay snug?

The difference between "acceptable fit" and "worn out" and the amount of play it takes to create a "click" at this interface are both very small.

I'm not sure if this is "recommended" by the experts or not, but I always lightly coat my BB spindle with Anti-seize lubricant before installing my crankarms.

Hope you find the source of the clicking before it drives you and those you ride with nuts!

proper torque.. lol ive been riding it for 6 months now.. if it was improper torque it would have f**ked up months ago. i'll take apart the cranks and remove the BB tho and clean them up and stuff and see if that works.
