Yesterday's high temp topped sixty which called for a tandem ride after work. Everything was pre-arranged, so I met my girl and was on the road with 2 hours of daylight left. Since the forecast for the remainder of the week and weekend is lousy, I wanted to make the best of the opportunity (which means hit it pretty hard).

Sometimes this does not translate well to my stoker and I must remind myself that she is a beginner and temper my desires somewhat! So as a compromise, for the first hour we climbed every steep hill in the area and the second hour, we backed it off and tried to stay on the ridges or in the valleys. All in all a great day and my stoker is coming along nicely and we should be ready for the GTR in mid-May.

We did take time to visit a barnyard friend who we saw on our last ride…. So cute and furry!

Here are the photos should anyone wish to view:

We just got back from our first ride of the season...just our second tandeming season. We did an easy 15 miles out of town that included a few long hills. A year ago, we couldn't say "easy 15 miles" and probably would have struggled with the uphills. Sure, we took them in really low gears, but we made it.

What I noticed most is how far ahead we are of our starting rides last year, when 10 miles seemed like a big deal.

At the end of today's ride, we only hit 14.4 miles so turned back to make up the difference and get an even 15. We passed a woman walking her dog who commented, "You guys are so cute!" Hearing that, we tucked our tights into our smiley face socks (with the tongue hanging out), and told her, "Look at this!" We got another smile and this time, "Oh, extremely too cute!"

Nice way to end our first ride of the season, which btw ended at 15.1 miles. Oops!
