I got my first bike in 1956. I was pretty small and my grandmother had given me a big black 26" Schwinn one speed ballon tire bike which was much too big for me so my Dad traded it in for a smaller red English bike. I remember its tires were much more slender, it had coaster brakes, fenders, straight handlebars and a tan colored leather saddle. it must have been a Raleigh because I remember it was built in Nottingham England which I thought was cool due to Robin Hood.
It was a very nice ride which I rode until I was given a 26" (tire size I believe) Raleigh 3 speed with hand brakes three years later. I wish I still had them both.
