If I was doing a sprint triathlon with a 3.1 mile run what should I be looking at for a good run time?

thx,
Dave

I'd say within 2 minutes of your stand alone 5k time.

That a good way to answer that one. I wasn't sure exactly what he was looking for there.

I always try to shoot for sub 15 minutes.

Of course, after that I'm usually spent for the 2nd mile :)

That's a tough question to answer since it varies by individual...it's like saying "how much does a dog weigh." I think Tri Bob's answer is a good one.

Check out the past results for some events...here's a link to my last sprint's results.

It's also going to be different every race depending on the course and conditions.

That would be a run - that when you cross over that finish line, you still have a smile on your face and can't wait to do another Tri.
If you accomplish that - you know your on the right track.
Really, don't get caught up in what others believe a good time is, as the only person you have to be better than is yourself. Take baby steps at first, expect nothing except to do the best you can....success will come in time.

I think I agree with MHR. Any time is a good time for your first race. The only thing your first race does is set the bar to beat in your second race!
