Probably no point in buying this one to turn a quick buck, but is it anything special?

Happened to everyone's avatars. Either someone hacked the site, or it is an escalation in the campaign to make more of us contributing members.

Nothing special; a UO8 from the looks of it. Still lots of 'em around.
That was Peugeot's cheaper offering in the '70s.
No offense to people who love theirs, but they have a kind of "dead" feeling ride; not lively. Frames are heavy "gaspipe" tubes. They can be made to ride better with decent wheels & tires though...

You want a Peugeot made of Reynolds or Vitus butted tubes (or I do, anyway). Though Peugeot did make some good riding models with cottered, steel cranks (and Reynolds tubesets), most of 'em from the '70s with the steel cranks were the lower priced, heavy framed models like the AO8 & UO8. Look for the Peugeots with the cool Stronglight 93 cranks.... They'll have a nice feel to their ride and they're truly lightweight.

I'd ask for a rundown of any tubing stickers. It looks like a UO8. Most I would pay for one of those would be a cool 25$. However, the stickers look mid-seventies to me, but by then I believe the UO8s had stem mounted gutrippers. Easy enough to change out, though.

"Tube Special Allegre"= UO8
"Carbolite 103"= UO8 or similar model
Reynolds sticker= PR10

Certainly not a PX. The braze ons on the top tube indicate UO8. I'd go with it as UO8, but the picture is so tiny my eyes bleed looking at it for details. I think those are cottered cranks (uo8). Plus, I believe the seller called a shimano exage a higher end component, so I'm not sure he has a clue as to what the bike is.

I laughed my butt off at the galloping radioactive green spermatazoa.

Agreed. I think the last year of the PXs Peugeot used Columbus SLX or something like. And boy, do I like the coolness of those seventies/sixties stronglight cranks. IMHO, one of the best looking cranksets ever.

This is the same guy I got that Raleigh LTD from. He's quite the salesman. Maybe I'll watch it and offer up $25 in a few weeks, I could make a SS with it and throw it at a friend of mine who needs exercise.

Thanks for the advice you guys.
