Alright, so I bought this bike thursday from a guy moving to california. I put a new tire and tube on the back and a rear axel nut and it rolls now. Is this a quality bike or just some POS?
Spec's (as best I know)
- GT Dyno Air
- bulldog brakes
- oryg detangler
- gt nylon pedals
- one peice crank
- Terry Saddle
- I have no clue about the rest (besides the bigass gt on the chainring)
I linked to the photo's instead of making this post crazy long (since I don't know how to do the pretty thumbnail thing), hopefully it will work. Let me know if they don't.

yeah, right now I am just trying to get used to it. I mean I'm 6'2 220lb should I even be trying? I only paid thirty for it and then another 10 for a tire and tube to get it rollin'.

Ditto. The pedals, sprocket, and cranks would be dead within an hour for me.

If all I had was 40 bucks and I couldn't earn a penny more - then maybe that was an accurate purchase.

There are definitely bikes at WalMart right now that surpass that in quality, and the $200.00 entry level bikes out right now completely blow it away.

That bike wasn't bad - 10 years ago. Now? Nope, not even close. Sorry.

those pedals are nylon; I would kill myself trying to pedal grind a rail

If it gets you out there, and gets you going, it was worth $40. Maybe Beerman or BMXTRIX would know if the wheels have any collector value. Original Skyway Tuff Wheels seem to bring a few decent bids on ebay. Would the GT's be worth anything? I know it's not that old, but I'll bet he could swap the chain, give it a cleaning, and sucker someone into paying $100 or more for his "Old School/Retro BMX".

Alright, so I'll ride it til it brakes and be saving money in the meantime for an upgrade. What do you guys know about giant bikes? The reason I ask is because I work at a bike shop and can get one cheap but thats the only company we carry that makes a bmx. And I figure if I could sell it for $50 one day, I'd make $10 bucks.

I have one of them in my basement, It ended up half painted, Sold the GT mags for a carton of cigerettes, sold the gold chain that was on it. Alot of people like mags.

interesting, yeah, I think I am gonna sell it, I might keep it. I don't know, I really don't care. Though now that I think about it, it would be nice to have that money back to put towards a better one so I'll most likely be selling it.

If I were you i'd keep the bike actually, I still kinda kick myself in the ass for selling all the parts. You can do alot with old school, bikes. My friend and I, did alot with an 82 GT Nora cup. We put 3 pc crank, converted the fork to threadless(a rig), Got some older GT Mach 1 hubs lace to aluminum double walled rims(polished em up to look like chrome)...Also you can put them mags in a freezer for 1 day to unwarp em.

so mags are just untrue-able, huh? Alright well We'll see what happens, see how my money situation is and if I have some kind of storage location. I'll try not to bend my wheels in the meantime though...

You're thinking of Z rims in the freezer. Good luck warping a mag.
