Picked up a couple things that make life commuting so much better, that I wonder why I didn't get the sooner. The first is the rearview mirror that clips to your glasses/helmet. Can I just say one word, COOL. I didn't think it would be that big a deal, boy was I wrong, it is one of the neatest gagets out there. If you aren't using one pick one up and try it out. Seeing traffic behind you is the greatest safety tool you can have.
My other toy was this velcro strap that I can now attach my Night stick lamp to my helmet. This makes those dark rides home nicer cause the light shines where my head points.
I know for many commuters you already know these touches of commuter life. I can't believe it took me 3 years to purchase them.

I had to stop using my mirror. I started worrying too much about what was behind me!

Rear view mirrors are great! I enjoy mine, but just remember, the Great Creator, in his/her infinite wisdom, could see us lowly humans tooling around on these magnificent inventions we call bicycles, so we were given to ability to turn our heads, giving us the ability to peek over our shoulders! Use your mirror, but don't put too much faith in it, nothing beats a quick look!

"Drivers never make mistakes" Yah, right, I'll just add that to the list of 'truths' like "I'll respect you in the morning".. "The check is in the mail"..."My wife doesn't understand me" et al !!:D

I don't think I've ever ridden without a mirror.
I have a mirror on both my road and commuter helmets. Always have, always will.

What sort of price are we looking at for a bike mounted mirror, or glasses mounted?

I just bought a glasses-mounted mirror today and it was $10. There were also helmet-mounted ones for $16-$18. Don;t know about the bike-mounted ones.
