Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

thats the exact reason why they make presta adapters.
from presta -> schrader!

I find the presta adapters less covenient than having a presta compatable pump. Just saying.

That was full on old school ballsy goin' for a ride after an extraction, and then droolin' blood. That's hardcore baby. You DO NOT ..... I repeat DO NOT want to waste a tooth wish on seein' me at a naked bike ride. NO SIR.
I may be sidelined for a few weeks from this London ride. Mothers' Day this week-end and my daughters the next. So please take me off the list for the time being to allow for some other deserving individual.
Operator..... did you work from a template for the bike gear? If so was it a vector piece.... where'd ya get it? I've had some requests for forum jersey making as well.

I am not handling the jersey's for the 24 hour team but I know of the guy who is doing them. His name is Norm and his shop is called Axis Gear. They have done jerseys for Cycle Solutions among others and his work looks first rate. I know he will do small runs but not sure of pricing. Look him up....they are in Toronto...hes a nice guy.
Whatever you do, DO NOT use Ostro. They are scamming assclown pieces of crap.

ohhh ZOUNDZ how much... I had an interesting ride in with a complete tool grinding me up against the curb so they could pass the streetcar. I've GOT to figure out a way of getting these drivers edumakated PDQ, before I do something stupid. I'm goin' to the cops I think.

Another cyclist was hit and killed last night, from a driver making a left turn.

I was wondering about that. Last night just before I went to sleep I turned on CP24 for a few seconds to check the forecast and I saw the word "cyclist" out of the corner of my eye in the news ticker... But I didn't feel like waiting for it to repeat. I was afraid of that. Cripes.

so that's 4? son of a ......
This ******* HAD to squeeze me as opposed to the streetcar, his Avalon was new you see.
To make matters worse all he had to do was wait a few flippin' seconds for either me to accelerate past the streetcar or the other way round, 10 seconds tops.. I can't remember having a car that close at speed in a loooong time, scared the **** out of me. He made several tries at nosing his way through, total ****.
Time to get the police and the press involved. This is going waaaay beyond the 'God damned bikers' mindset that I'm so used to.

At this point I don't think it matters anymore, if it's our legal right to take the lane and drivers' don't know that.
Then the police and the city should be culpable for not making it clear.

I'm starting to be tempted to start rocking a full-face helmet like Traffic Jammer! Or at the very least one of the Pro-Tec style helmets with more coverage. Does anybody know if they actually provide more protection? Or is it more of a psychological thing because they just seem sturdier?

They are designed to stop you from whacking trees and branches into your face, but they also work (to a lesser extent) to stop you from whacking cars or road into your face.

It SHOULD take a glancing blow from a light pole or mailbox as well, as long as your getting your head turned. Better the lid than your face.

re protec: I wonder what affords the most protection in a car vs. cyclist collision though. I mean, cycling helmets are obviously designed to cushion an impact and totally deform (ie. crush). but, they have less coverage. This is opposed to a "hard" helmet which is designed to withstand multiple impacts and not deform, but has considerably more coverage. Do you know what I mean?
Personally, when I look at my helmet I wonder what help it would be in a collision with the car, unless the car hit me directly on top of the noggin. I guess it protects the "important parts"... but wouldn't you think they're designed more for a cyclist taking a spill by themselves vs. colliding with a car?
Ugh. I'm just getting paranoid now.

I think the skate (vert) helmet would give you more, and it's made for repetitive bongos.
I'm going to see if I can call in press contact.
SomeHOW, the bikers HAVE to take that damned lane. It's the only way I can see. The drivers, I can't blame 100%, if they think they are entitled I can see why they would be freaking. I know ignorance is no excuse, but they must be away.
