there was some talk about cycling knickers a while back. knowing the high prices of some of the brands i decided to order a pair of these (http://chicagowig.blogspot.com/). i know they are really just modified dickies workpants but i have a couple of pair of them (unmodified) and they last forever and are fairly cheap. just something to chew on for those of you who don't want to shell out $150 for a pair of the fancies. $35 you can't go wrong. i'll give a full report once they are delivered.

London has a really high use of desiel fuel compared to here
Not just London, but all of Europe. Their diesel is also much higher quality than here. I find it weird that Canada's diesel is actually considerably worse than the USA's. That's part of the reason we don't get any cool diesel cars here (other than the VW 1.9l tdi and the SMART fortwo).
Prime example is the Audi diesel twin-turbo V8. Jeremy from Top Gear did 800miles on a 19L tank of fuel in an Audi A8. It actually outperforms the gas powered car (I think it's around 325hp and 480lb-ft of torque), with better mileage AND (apparently) less greenhouse gas emissions. Here's a link from digg:

Oh come on! Like my father, and his father before him, we only like the cheap scotch... The expensive stuff just tastes like a pond... I mean I kind of equate is with truffles. My Dad usually brings a bottle of J&B with him when he travels on business because when he asks for a scotch and soda they break out the single malt and don't have anything a little less 'cultured' for his tastes... that being said he is an avid wine collector and delicacy enthusiast. Why don't we have a 'cigar afficionado' party while we are at it and not let anything but foot long cubans through the door?
I'd like to slap the bartender that mixed single malt scotch with soda water. and sinlge malt is supposed to taste like a pond; it's an acquired taste. and if it tastes like a pond then J&B tastes like nail polish remover.
i thought you weren't posting at work? welcome to the dark side!

I was telling emma we should volunteer but she said she talked to jenny (who works at curbside) and Jenny said that you could just go on the ride without volunteering or fund rasing, so thats what we will probably do. What will they have you doing? we can still meet up.
And Jeremy.. Fine Scotch is a much more expensive acquired taste than beer or coffee!

Not much, we're supposed to work in a specific area, but what I end up doing is just doing the entire course looking for problems. :D

my only rule is: no bar rail scotch! i don't want to be stuck "tasting" famous grouse! oh and it must be from scotland.
if we could get, say, 5 or more people this could be a great time. i'd probably bring Balvenie 10yr old.
You and your Johnny Walker Red can hit the bricks. I think we could make the rule "single malts only" I don't care how tasty Chivas or Johnny Walker Black is...it's still a blend and that don't make the cut.

Well put. i saw some Johnny Walker in the LCBO with the expensive stuff. i didn't realize their blue label is $200! it must be that expensive becuase it's hard to get a blend the same every time. when are we doing this? i'm salivating...
in related news, in the same LCBO i happened on a bottle of canadian rye, it was a single malt and it sold for less than the cheap blended scotch. i was truly intrigued, i should have bought it, i forgot the name (no it's not wisers, it was an independant producer).

It's listed in the bikeweek guide. I think there's just going to be some booths around the grassy area near the bandshell plus a bbq and I assume bands playing. Just somewhere to chillax for the evening. Beats sitting around at home.

I don't think you'll need to lock up. If necessary we can just keep an eye on each other's rides. I think eyefloater is going to swing by when he's done at 7:00 as well. I'll likely show up between 7:00 and 7:30 as well. My friend cuts my hair (she runs her "studio" in her apartment) so we usually wind up socializing and listening to music and stuff so it takes a while (appt is at 5:30). :D

Depends on what you like from your whiskey. I am sure Blue is a fine whiskey.....I far prefer the uniqueness of single malts over blends. It's like Creemore vs Guiness....both good beers but the Guiness is far more unique.

It would start raining just as I start to go for a little cruise at lunch, wouldn't it? Of course, I was going to grab lunch someplace and as I was riding down Augusta I decided it would be nice to sit in the "window" (ie. opening) at Big Fat Burrito and read a book "outside" while sheltered from the rain. It was lurvly! And the rain died down enough after an hour that I barely got wet getting back to the office. Oh, and the burrito was decent also (first time there).
