Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Thats a fine question....If memory serves I think they are tigged but not 100% sure. Call La Bicicletta and ask someone there. That bike is crazysteep tho. If it is just for the track..then it would be sweet. For street they are a little too squirrelly for my liking.

I like the home spun look. Wife says I can get screens for cost. If we wanna go getto thats cool too. Let me get Cypress Hill inspired and I'll come up with some designs using non-typical imagery. Anyone REALLY adverse to Japanese inspirations? I've gone away from MTB....up up up ...down down down....sheesh. If I do a cross/road conversion to my MTB I'll give 'er again on the trails at least once, but I really wanna up the gearing on this ride. The flipped stem, slight seat rise....feels good, much better for carving. Wore through the handgrips, so time to change....now that I don;t need to micro control of a wide bar for the trails... chop chop time. Any grip suggestions?

I was thinking just for track ... it's a long-term goal but something worth considering.

I've had a hard-on for marines because they kill everything they see ... wait, that's not right.
I've had a hard-on for Rossin track frames ever since I saw one like this on eBay some time ago:

http://www.fixedgeargallery.com/2006/mar/AaronRosenbluth-3.jpg

So tigged ... are there any benefits to that (ie. easier to replace a bent tube than with lugged or fillet)?

Oh, I emailed La B. a few days ago. If/when they get back to me I'll post any useful info. I couldn't find anything about the current Rossin line-up on teh interweeb.

Damn that's tight....useless on the street, but oh sooo sexy for a track ride. You can't go wrong with Rossin.
I like the paint too. (pride joke left on my desk)

Mmmhmm, my commuter is my commuter. I might like something a bit nicer to use on the street some day, but just some random simple Platinum OX/Reynolds 631 offering with geometry I like. Nothing completely over the top because then I'd never be able to let myself lock it up anywhere without every component having a chain around it.

That being said, it would be nice to have a dedicated track machine as well. It'll be a long way to go until I'm competent on the FCV, but after our initial trip there it's something I can't wait to progress at. I figure I'll rent for awhile, then maybe just use my POS Pake to cut down on costs ... then after a seaon of actual racing I could justify spending $1000 on a bike if I really get hooked.

Yeah...thats the kind of steep I was talking about. The newer bike may be lugged...I am really not too sure. The really nice thing about having a track only bike is you can leave it at the track in the bike porn room. No worries about bringing yer bike...it is waiting for you.
Give La B a call on the phone...you will get a much quicker answer.

Why do I think Rossin is out of Montreal? I seem to remember the shop that did/does the Tuesday Night Lachine Crits is/was either a Rossin shop or it maybe is/was Rossin itself.

I bet if you put a front brake on that thing, the tire would touch the downtube when you pulled the lever. Nice looking bike though.

Regarding earlier posts mentioning Rossin....nevermind..."Lachine's Tuesday night races have being going on since 1978 and its founder, Tino Rossi, should give a lesson or two to all other promoters in North America on how to put on a show and great race."

My bad, close though.

last time i was in the store they had a coule on display. from what i remember they weren't that expensive either. from what i gather TIG welding is supposed to look cleaner and produce a superior weld (look at the old Salsa stems for example). as for replacing a tube, i think it would be more difficult than with a lugged frame but i could be way off.
i've also heard horror stories of those frames rusting away like crazy from the inside (when ridden in the elements). still, i like them, i'd ride one (at least one of the road frames).

i MIGHT be stealing that from you, just FYI.

my road frame has been at Biseagal getting work done since january and they just scratched the brand new paint job and needed to send it out again to get painted. curses! so you can see how it is a nessesity that i steal that bike. i mean fair is fair.

fun ride last night guys, even if i couldn't keep up. i think offhoff should be wearing those keirin gloves and shoulder pads from now on...

Where does the radio go though? What kind of cheesy assed bike doesn't have a radio mount?

Wednesday is beef patty and coco bread day. Patty King for lunch... well at least a patty with bread and a coke for 2bucks.

i dunno, all i saw was red blinking lights in front of me. if i want to keep up maybe i should use a higher gear and drink less beer....hey that rhymes...but it's not going to happen, at least the beer part.

i'm a 42x16 man (18 on the other side of the hub) as well (around 71 gear inches on 700c wheels). wouldn't want anything higher for the 100km+ rides. some of the long climbs up the oak ridges moraine would not go so well in higher gears...

cadence? on a 42/16 you must be pumpin pretty fast to get 35....
How bout' you Illmitch, I hear you're a rocket....you running a 46-16?

No fair racing around if not all runnin' the same gearing.

i don't know about steeker, but i'm comfortable cruising close to 30km/hr at about 90-100rpm.

here's something (http://www.fixedgeargallery.com/articles/steve-cadence/) that may help figure out cadence. it's in imperial measurements but easy enough to convert.

any techies here want to take a stab at changing the program to read speed in metric?

i don't know about steeker, but i'm comfortable cruising close to 30km/hr at about 90-100rpm.

here's something (http://www.fixedgeargallery.com/articles/steve-cadence/) that may help figure out cadence. it's in imperial measurements but easy enought to convert.
I chased down and passed Operater one night and my computerwas showing 48k then my back started to twinge THAT"S when I heard this WHOOSSHHHHH comming behind me and Dark mother flew by like a bird

were his feet blurring? Dark's runnin' a higher gear for sure, he could sleep spinnin' a 42.

his legs looked blurry but that was most likely my eye's as I was fighting not to puke all over myself and was braking hard then32Flav shot by and asked how my back was as she shot by:lol: Edit I go fast for very short sprint

48-18 for 71gear inch lot's of get up & go but spin out easy, however great on hills! Looking at geting a 17t cog for around 75 gear inch happy medium.
Cheers

any techies here want to take a stab at changing the program to read speed in metric?

I can hold up to 40kph. Then it gets iffy. Short interval up to 52 but that's my hard limit. That page is getting h4x0red in a minute.

New and improved cadence calculator it is: http://ca.geocities.com/socheung@rogers.com/ftw.htm

42x15 FTW! I still spin like a weaver trying to keep up with some of you guys.

Thats like 2.8:1 ratio.

Some of you's are running well over 3:1
i don't know how you guys can even start from a stop.

These gear inches.. they don't make any sense to me.

42x16 is like 2.65:1 ratio. Nice and easy.

A 17tooth cog is going to be hard to find unless you buy nice nice things. eg... EA import, Phils, Surly.

Durace don't make a 17 :(

DarkMother and Cavernmech could turn this gear with no problems

that one is super fast and I am told by bent riders that low ones are easy on hills once you get your bent legs,, you never come out on rides and that makes me the oldest one there:(

basically gear inches means one revolution of the pedals will proper the bike X inches. The charts are not exact but gets you in the ballpark. Tire size does affect this.

Thats a bad ass recumbant Steeker.. FRONT WHEEL DRIVE! mad sexy with disc brakes and rear suspension!
I don't really understand why they have the feet so high up.. it's like you're looking at your feet and not the road. Weird.
