I got a notice in the mail the other day informing me that I only have 3 points left on my license. Which is funny, since I don't drive. Apparently, every time I get a fine for running a light on my bike, the points roll off. Yee haw! Soon I'm not going to be a bicycle commuter by choice, but by nessesity. Especially if I don't have time to go to the court office tomorrow and set a date for my latest stopsign running ticket.
Anyone know how many points you lose for running a stopsign?

Talk to a Justice of the Peace and they will have those points taken off of your record. You just explain that it had nothing to do with your car and that you were on your bicycle when the infractions occurred. Also, be sure to call your insurance company and let them know that you are getting the points off of your record and be sure to mention the JP by name and there shouldn't be any problems. I love the JPs down at Old City Hall, they are all awesome and very understanding folks.

DM I think Keith wrote a piece here as to what and how they aren't allowed to burn your license points. It has to say bike/bicycle on the infraction, otherwise it's assumed to be a car and points are deducted. It is not allowed to do anything to your license based on your biking adventures, no matter how fun they might be. Tickets$$$$ yes, points no.

Same thing happento me I got Three demerit points on my Drivers license, for running a red light on my bike, and the funny part, is my drivers license is still a G 1, I don't own a car.
and Idon't intend to buy a car much less drive a car, I got the license for Identification purposes, because our health Card are not being honored as a ligitimate Identification.

If he was a little kid, I'd have felt terrible. I'm not an insensitive monster, ok sometimes.. He flew at a vert wall obviously with the intention of riding the tranny and doing something cool. No helmet, and he totally missed. Throwing yourself a wall and missing is good comedy. I'm glad he was ok though, I'd not have laughed if he had been seriously hurt. I'd have been pissed if my buds just stood around and kept filming, shoulda spit blood and teeth at them. I knocked my two fronts out as well(swallowed one at 6yrs) in a high speed wagon (pushed by big neighbour kid), and push car collision.

Typical interaction with J.P. regarding demerits on bicycle.
J.P. "What can I do for you today?"
Keith. "Well I received a ticket for fail to stop and want to remedy the situation"
J.P. "Well the standard demerit deduction for fail to stop is 3 demerit's"
Keith. "yes I know...However this infraction took place while I was riding my bicycle"
J.P. " A Bicycle!!...mutter's under breath...Give this paper to the clerk outside my office...she/he will take care of it. Have a nice day".
Never, Ever, use your driver's license for I.D. when pulled over for a moving violation on your bike and you can avoid the hassle of a typically 3 hour visit to Old City Hall. A health card won't get you in the bar but will suffice for the local constabulary.

I've had good experience with justice of the peace action too. Are you saying that I can get my points back after the fact-like after I've been convicted and paid my fines?

I need to get some other photo ID. They always ask me if I have a drivers license, and I have learned the hard way not to lie to the boys in blue.

I have always taken care of the demerit crap before paying the fine. As long as you have the ticket/infraction # you should be able to take care of it after the fact. Never done it myself tho.

So not so bad then in the realm of extreme sports. He could have done himself in with a skull bongo, as opposed to his face plant on the tranny. I've knocked myself out a couple times comin' in fakie on a vert ramp.

1-2 per year for as long as I have been commuting. I probably run a stop sign 5000+ times a year.

They have signs that say stop? Seriously though I don't know if you'll be able to get the old ones recovered, going years back could prove most difficult for the rusty bureaucracy.

The last time I had this problem was during Bike Week last year (I love how they have their little "crackdowns" when people who normally don't ride get pulled over and whacked with a stupid ticket) I got stopped for the stop sign run. The officer asked me for I.D. I gave her my UCI racing license. In pulling said I.D. from my wallet she spied my Driver's license. She asked for the D.L. for I.D. I refused and replied that I did not really want to spend several hours of my time straightening out the demerit fiasco that was sure to follow. She assured me up and down that this would shurely not happen....yeah right. Sure enough a few weeks later I got my obligatory demerit deduction notice in the mail. ASSCLOWNS!!. I think that withholding a drivers license in lieu of other forms of I.D. is not lying to the cops but rather just trying to avoid an un-necessary hassle. Altho I guess a night in the drunk tank for failing to obey a peace officer is also a hassle. :D

It's yers for the taking. I will bring it down to the shop tomorrow..you can pick it up any time you like. I can't help but wonder whatmight be on the harddrive. It used to be Steevo's from Sum 41.
Asian alcohol eh? I was drinking at a buddy's place a number of years ago and he had this bottle of Chinese booze. There was not a lick of English on the label but it had a gutted lizard fermenting in the bottle. We called it "Lizard Juice" We drank it but then worried that the label might say something like "for decoration only"
I was at a chinese feast last night. I don't know what half the stuff we had was, but what I thought was a mushroom turned out to be abalone and what looked like little noodles turned out to be shark fin! I also had the lizard juice and I'm pretty sure we called it the same thing.
On another note: I switched my chainring from a 48 to a 43 and wheeee! still haven't isolated that damn creak though... I think it must be the rear wheel...
I'll be in town tonight; I'll be at Yonge/Dundas at 8:30!
