Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Sounds like a good place to have another meet up. We haven't all met up for coffee in a long time. Maybe Monday?
Jeremy: do you know if they're open on Monday?
i think they are, maybe just during the day though. i'm not sure i can monday because i'm getting fitted for a kilt. i know it sounds like a made up excuse but's true; my friend's getting married and he wants us to wear kilts.
i may be able to if it's early in the morning, but anyway, you know where the place is.

The Fuji is all built up now and it rides beautifully and is very sexy, I'll take pics when I can get my hands on a camera.
Anyone up for a CV tonight?
Edit: Does anyone have a non set-back 27.2 seatpost and is willing to sell it?

Bankers hours :p
I have a few small poly tarps to give away (probably two). These are handy to leave as is or cut into smaller pieces to put under your bike if you work on it at home, to spare your 500 year old Mashad rug. I have one monster orange heavy duty one that someone will have to get by seducing me.
Bump... okay all you lurkers... pony up. Yes you, the lurker who floats through, wondering why this thread is so friggin' long. You marvel at our awesomeness, trying to get up the nerve to post but never do. Well, nows your chance to make your mark in history. Look at the pledge pages for eyefloater and somnabulent and give, give, give.
Okay you monkeys. We have two of our own, eyefloater and somnabulent doing the Friends for Life ride. I just took a spin through both the pledge pages and I've yet to see much evidence of any support from folks here.
I know not everyone is flush but every little bit helps. I dropped $100 bones each, mostly cause eyefloater promised to clean my Ciocc with a toothbrush for a month, but I challenge everyone here to drop $20 or more on these guys. Split it between them or just empty your pockets and give what you can. Even the price of a beer will help, like you really need it you chubby walrus. Apart from being able to hold it over their heads for the rest of their lives, you're supporting a good cause. Chances are someone you know or you yourself may be influenced by the effects of this deadly disease.
So pony up, buttercup. For the half the price of a new jersey, a couple of beers, or a massage (sans happy ending) from operator, you can make a difference, feel good about yourself, and know these boys are going to earn every red cent as they gftg.
Do it. You know you want to...

That was me, sorry. I'll bring a pair of thongs next time. I wear sandals so I was barefoot and should have just put the cycling sandals outside. Boo for me.

Hey all. Report from the great West! Today I rode the Edmonton river valley. It was really nice riding along the river and being surrounded by trees. And then I stopped at a fruit stand with my compadres and bought Rainier cherries. All in all a good day. It's weird riding in Edmonton, drivers are definitely not as used to bikes as they are in Toronto. It's pretty different, less traffic and bigger blocks and really really flat, even flatter than Toronto. That was probably boring, but my life is important, dammit!
P.S. sorry to hear about your accident, gboy- heal up fast!

When he was about 10 seconds away or just after the finish line in the pack, it was very tight & he got pushed a bit to far to the side wall where the fans were standing & going nuts all holding BIG green hands ( made of cardboard not foam & from a sponsor ) sliced him very nicely. Could only see it in slow mo.

Its the Orient here again. Man is China crazy I'm in Hangzhou now a city about 2 hours away from Shanghai thats has a giant artificial lake called west lake. We got here after a 23 hour train ride (sounds worse then it is sleeper cars in China rule) and are just trying to avoid the mid afternoon eat. Its 30+ degrees everyday with enough humidity that all you do is sweat as soon as you get outside. Me and my brother are going to bike around the lake tommorow morning on some crappy old chinese s/s beaters which should be good fun before eating some more delicious food.
Heading to Shanghai in a few days, now that's supposed to be a city and I'll have a access to an honest to god fixie. A beatiful ganwell pro track bike owned by a dear friend of mine. She's going to let me try and not die while biking around the city and it should be pretty amazing.
I've been watching some of the tour on CCTV 5 (gotta love Chinese state TV, all 11 channels of it!) and I gotta say that its pretty crappy that this doping thing hit I was really looking forward to watching Ulrich and Basso duke it out.
I know every newspaper and news program around has said that china is amazing and changing and rapidly developing but if any of you guys can afford it come as soon as possible. Its going to get so expensive soon that it won't be any fun, but right not its such a trip. First if your white your the center of attention places. I literally got dragged into a couple bars in the last city we were in and got jambayed (the chinese drinking cheer) under the table. They have a great drinking game that requires dice that we'll have to play on a critical vacuum at some point.
Cars are fairly new in China and its interesting watching how the bikes and cars interact. There doesn't seem to be any order to it all, you just go when you can and hope you don't die. I don't think anything is going to prepare me for riding in Shanghai and then after that in Beijing. I just hope I come out of it in one piece, but I can surely say that no North American driver will ever scare me after what I've experienced here.
Quick Food report: Our last meal for less then 40 dollars canadian we had 2 lobsters, a whole fish, a bucket of crab, 24 GIANT shrimp and it was all alive when we chose it. My god people if you have a stomach and taste buds and anything resembling an adventourous appetite you have got to come here. Its fricken' heaven, Chinatown will never be the same again.
More when I get to Shanghai, ride safe, ride fast.
Oh and Germany is winning the world cup. And thank god Brazil got there butts handed too them, even if it was by the cheese-eating surrender monkeys. Zizou for the WIN!

There's some story behind Bob Roll calling it the Tour "day" France isn't there?
I remember hearing some story about why he says it like that during last years tour.
Edit: Offhoff, sounds like a you're having a great time, I've always wanted to go to China. Looking forward to hearing about riding in Shanghai, that should be interesting.
