Ok so I'm starting a list for people who have already taken Track 1 at the velodrome and are interested in taking Track 2 and 3. According to the schedule on the website, we can do Track 2 or 3 on Monday nights from 8-10pm http://www.forestcityvelodrome.ca/comeriderace.html . We'll probably need at least two cars to get us there, so if you're willing to drive a couple of people there please say so.
Add your name to the following list if you want to come.
1. Mitch
I'm definitely in (including my car). And yeah, they have a track 2/3 combo dealie regularly on Saturday mornings (once a month I think).. AND I was chatting with Mike there via email and he said they would likely be able to do it on a different Saturday with a confirmed group of people. I don't even think it was that many.. maybe 4 or 5 people minimum? I offered to pitch in on gas for him too since he lives outside of London someplace. I don't think it would be that easy for me to go on a weeknight either.. a weekend would be much better. The 3rd/4th weekends in August are good for me, as are the 1st/3rd/4th/5th weekends in September. Any other weekend is likely a no-go for me. That's assuming we're going on a Saturday.. if it's a Sunday, the 2nd weekend in August is OK too (only busy that Saturday).

I'm going to have to hit up the LBS in R.H for some rim tape and a tube ($6.50 last time I was there) ugh. Hope I don't get shafted.

that was an epic effort on the part of the dane. I like the letour.fr headline "A Flying Chicken: A Yellow Spaniard & Floyd’s Day To Forget!" Will anyone have anything left for tomorrow, or are we going to see everything reshuffled again like today?

Is there a rolls royce of tire levers for tight fitting tires guys? My yellow quik-stik died. It needs to be strong because I always end up with SUPER tight tire/rim combos.

I use Michelin tire levers exclusively. I have a couple in my home tool box that I have had for over 15 years. If you are having lots of trouble mounting tires it is more often than not a case of having a tire bead set before you get the tire completely on. Once you have got the tire to the tight stage let a bit of air out of the tube and massage the tire so the bead is sucked into the rim well. This usually gives you some slack to get the tire on. 90% of the tires I mount I can get on without tire levers by using this technique.

Let me guess.....Continental tires?
I usually don't like park tools, but I do like their tire levers. They are the best I've tried so far-better than the quick stik.

I just use the super crappy wedge shaped handles of my park multi-tool but most of the time I can mount my tires fine withour a lever. My buddy has some super heavy duty steel ones that probably work well but I would not like to be jamming steel tools into my aluminum rims if I could help it.

Ambrosio rims with wire beed contis come to mind. You might want to also try the following which has worked for me:
-mount as much of the tire as possible
-deflate as much as possible as was suggested
-when you get to that last bit that's hard to get on even with tire levers do this next step directly opposite
- pinch the tire with both thumbs and draw them along the sidewall in opposite directions (contrary motion for all you piano players) in an effort to stretch the tire in hopes of creating more slack
- try the lever again
*others have used soapy water OR talcum powder (but then your wheels smell like a baby's bum)

Well ok, $15 later new tube, lever and rim tape and I think i'm good to go - I hope. I picked up those blue park tool levers, let's hope they don't let me down.
It was really frustrating having to take the packed Viva back because I ran out of materials to repair my flats/rim tape. Felt so incompetent.

Velodrome i would love to go back any weekend would be fine for me i'll fit it in, just not a weekday/night. So if both drivers are down and could come up with a coordinated date I’d love to. (Easy for me to say eh!) Also I’d be happy to pitch in to hook up the guy there for his time. As well as our gas.
No flats for me as of late!
