Hello everyone. Jet Sanchez does indeed exist, and is a very nice man to boot. The Gardin is now complete, I will take pictures sometime later and hopefully post them. Whee! Thanks again to Keith (cavernmech), John (Jet Sanchez), Chris (Kaibot) and my non-BF hookups at Bikes on Wheels and Curbside for helping me get this ***** on the road.

He seems like a good guy. I've screwed him out of business (unintentionally) a couple of times though, by finding stuff (surprisingly) cheaper at Bikes on Wheels.

Fresh Blacktop ALERT!!!
Queens' Quay/Yonge South side bike path just west of the intersection. Filled in and stamped down with a shovel, not rolled. Truck and car tire marks in it and little asphalt pebbles abound. You have been warned, definite mess to hit at speed.

That was a bad looking fall towards the end of the stage, but then the guy just got right back on his bike and kept on going.
Yeah.. that was pretty crazy. He pole-vaulted down an embankment.. :P I can't remember who it was right now, but it was someone fairly high up in the GC.
ps. man.. someone get Rasmussen a ****ing cheeseburger.

It was Cyril Dessel and every frenchman who wanted another frenchman to win the TDF cringed and yelled "PUTAIN!" because he pretty much crashed himself out of the last shred of contention he (and france) had.
PS. don't try typing your message in the quick reply box before the page has 100% loaded because once it is 100% loaded it seems to erase everything you just wrote irrepairably.
P.P.S. Wes, you're saying that to the guy who doesn't bring water on monumental climbs because it weighs too much. He is an actual real weight weenie, not like those donut ride ones who keep all their accessories in the back pockets of their jerseys and have 30 pounds of flab on their top tube. Don't eat a cheeseburger and your bike frame is effectively a quarter pound lighter (My god pro athletes are insane )

I can't remember where I saw it, but the numbers I saw were 5'9" (so yeah, 1.75m) and 135lbs (69kg = 152lbs).
ps. the reason I said that initially is because of the headshot of him on the right side of the official tour website today. http://www.letour.fr/2006/TDF/LIVE/us/1800/index.html <- right side, middle picture. I know I have a giant mellon, but he's the only person shown with a loose fitting cycling cap. :P (not to mention the sunken cheeks). SKELETOR!

Yeah, his head is like a skull with a layer wet tissue paper draped over it. Some of the pros remind me of greyhounds, so sinuey.

I won alot of arm wrestling matches that way. People think that muscle size makes you stronger, but muscle length and density is just as important. Combined with the extra leverage of longer limbs and ligaments attaching to the bone further from the joints and I could beat people with way bigger muscles than mine. Plus its the kind of muscle you keep; you don't lose it from not lifting 250 pound weights every day.
PS. I predict that by the end of the weekend we will have surpassed the pictures sticky. The time of exodus is near. Ready yourselves because those who are left behind will just make things confusing!

That is Su-weet! I rarely use the word Cute to describe a bike but that is kinda cute. Where did you get the Power-Grips? I want a pair for my winter bike and know that Velotique has em but am rarely out that way.

Aww. Thanks. It is kinda cute, innit?
I got the powergrips at Curbside, I'm not sure if they still have any though, I think I bought their only pair, and they'd been sitting there for awhile.
In other news, Kaibot- I think you gave me a rear brake. Which doesn't make sense since you only had the one and had been using it on your track bike? But the screw thing that goes through the hole in the fork doesn't go through all the way and it seems to fit the rear brake hole. Is it possible that my fork is extra fat or something, or is it more likely that you did indeed give me a rear instead of the front?
And thus I start off on my brakeless adventure...

POWER GRIPS!!!
**** yes, I used to rock those when I raced xc as a young lad. Keith, we have one single pair left in stock if you want me to snag them for you (black).
Is that frame designed for a 650c front or something? Nice build regardless. It's all stealthy and curvey-like.

I don't think it's designed for a 650c, I think I've got the fork from its original incarnation as a roadie. It probably just looks slightly funny because of the geometry-related sacrifices you have to make to incorporate 700c wheels into a 44 cm frame. I'm actually having a little trouble skidding because of the lax geometry (as compared to my Fuji track).

Actually I gave you both a front and rear brake.
The 105 is for the front and the Sora is for the back.
The front brake bolt http://www.bikepartsusa.com/product_images/mfg_01/1/small_13728.jpg actually needs to recess into the fork, I dunno how old the fork is and if it will accomodate it though.
You may need to drill out the back side a bit and get a longer recessed nut and it will just rest on the back of the frok crown, it's and easy fix either way.
Come by the shop if you need some help I can probably do it on the spot I will be there sunday 11-5, and 9-8 most days during the week.

In other news, putting fenders on a road bike is a GIANT pain in the ass. I had to dremel some of the hardware to get the bastards to fit, and even now there's a tiny bit of tire rub which I decided I would just have to live with.

Yep, all healed up but still waiting for my bike to be repaired (the new b/b still hasn't been shipped yet); I had to rent one of the Norco full-suspension bikes (I love disc brakes!). Maybe we should setup a trip to one of the resorts a la the Velodrome trip?
