Yesterday evening I was riding to Yoga class with my girlfriend. She got caught behind me at bloor so I waited on the south side and when she passed me I hopped back on the pedals and tried to start going. But I ground to a halt when my toe got caught on my fender and then my fender bent and touched the tire and then the tire sucked in the fender bending the metal fictures and plastic part. I thought I was going to have to walk the bike but I managed to pry it out enough to ride to yoga and then to work today. Mighty annoying! If I didn't have a tiny 10mm box wrench on my multi tool I would have been screwed (LOL!!!!) I've also ripped my shorts several times on my fenders... its those damn metal spikes that shoot out of them but I didn't want to cut them down in case I wanted to swap them over to some other bike. But now its messed anyways! So are my shorts!

Well I'm just about ready to flip a coin here. What do your guts say? Because god knows I don't have any! I suppose the novelty of having my mum give me pedals and cycling shoes soon after my birthday might be nice. I wish this was standardized or something. I hate gambling with anything except my life or future!

I love fenders and nearly bought one of those Mercier TTs on eBay specifically because the frame has eyelets on the fork and rear stays for fenders. A winter-bike without fenders is useless to me. I have a snap-on fender on the GT and it is fine but I really think a bike looks great with full fenders.

Who's going to Critical Mass on Friday?

one of my bosses messed up my schedule so I am working saturday when I asked for it off over a week ago...

Tomorrow I am scheduled from 9-8, but I am going to try and sneek out a bit early depending on how we are doing, there will still be two other mechanics working 'till close, so I think will be able to, and if my boss gives me any **** I'm not going to put up with it..

arggg... I missed last months CM because of asimilar situation :(

ahaha, mmmm I just repacked the campy hubs on the Rossin.

The front is buttery, rear is nice but not as good.

One thing you can do to get your cup and cone hubs feeling minty (as long as they're already in good shape) it is get tooth polish and repack you hubs with it instead of grease, ride like that for 100k or so and the bearing surfaces will be like mirrors.

Grease 'em up and your good to go. :D

TRaffic Jammer

Never "grease" Campy anything, they are lubed forever with the tears of angels. :p

Kaibot ... standin' up to the man. Word, props et al.

found it.:p Ronin glad it runs nice, super that it's holding a rider up, that's when Campy stuff is happiest. Did Keith have to do anything to it?

CM update: I will be at home with my youngest this evening laughing our asses off watching 'Benchwarmers' as her older sister, my now teenaged daughter:eek: , goes out with her gf's and her mom.

Have fun with it tonight.
I LOVE the tooth paste idea, we used to use crest in the Army to shine brass, and yes i HAVE cleaned large things witha tooth brush.

Operator, if the rear fender comes up the seat tube and then straight back (moto sytle) it won't be a contributor to drag and it will keep the stripe off. I've been DIY'ing fenders for years. AS for the front well you can add a down tube version but it won't give you all the protection a full frontal fender will give you. You can exfoliate as you ride. :)

The driver stopped for a moment, looked back in the victim’s direction and drove north on Islington Ave., police said.

Well done guys. We'll have to get together at some point so as to regale us with tales of the trip.

Off topic... does anyone have an M8 x 1.25 die and handle I could borrow? I've tried to locate one at Canadian Tire, Home Depot, and Rona with no luck. Ya they sell individual ones, but not metric in this size. I've chopped down a stem and need to extend the bolt threads in order to tighten up the quill.

"a car heading northbound veered across two lanes of oncoming traffic, mounted the curb and struck the man"

Sounds pretty intentional to me, maybe it was her husband or ex-husband or cheating lover or whatever. Had he been on a bicycle, he could have dodged the attack.
