while I share your thoughts to some degree he would be hard pressed to stay with the fast geared guys on a fixie. As is so often said here... Road Bike FTW!

Yeah... I would probably ride a roadie bike too for the race...

Totally off topic I just had to share this. My buddy/customer brought in his pimped out Cervelo R3 this morning. I put it on the digi scale for him. With a heart rate monitor computer on it it weighed 12.3 lbs. beat him up and ride that. DAMN!

That's nuts. What components do you have to use to get that kind of weight? Are we talking aluminum cassettes and friction shifters? What were the wheels like?

Stock Dure-Ace shifter's derailleurs cassette and chain. carbon crank, post saddle, bars. Zipp carbon tubies on Classic hubs, TI spokes with Tufo's. He is still working on it but he is gonna get it under 12. He rides it at least 500 km's a week too so not a "Sunday Rider".

a ****ing j-brone named adam owes me money.. i am a very patient person, but taking four months to pay me $230 when originally he said he'd pay me in two weeks is just not sitting with me.

i have known the guy for.. 6 years... wtf.

i know this has no bike relation, well actually the other week he got one of my other friends to call me up at work and ask me for prices on rear wheels and cassettes, is he so scared that he can't even talk to me directly?

this is what i wrote him just a few minutes ago... and if he doesn't respond i don't know what to do, does he expect me to track him down? argggggghhhhh cheeseeeebugaaaaa

seriously adam what the **** is going on? you are really starting to piss me off.. are you just expecting me to forget about the whole thing? you owe me money, and i'm pretty sure that you STILL don't have any for me, but how about you prove me wrong. your promises mean nothing, you don't even make any effort to contact me in any way, how hard is it? use someone's phone, click respond instead of trash when I send you a message... don't act like I have been harassing you with emails day after day beacuse that is simply not true. since we actually talked and you told me that your debt to me was "the next on your list to be paid off" it has been three weeks. so where do we stand? it's not my problem that you didn't have the ****ing discipline to put aside, what would it be? $50 a month, up until now and have actually paid me off. I gave you an ipod and trusted that you would pay me for it, seems like i made a wrong decision, you are just making it harder for yourself. i know things have been hard.. whatever, but i have debts to pay too. make some sacrifices, get the money.

The bump lock thingy has me a little concerned. I'm just paranoid but it renders the padlock super useless. I'm still using the stock molly lock that came with it but i'm sure the american locks are vulnerable as well.

wow, what a rush that was.

I got 10th or 11th place and had a time of 39:30 or something like that.

The guy who won was a monster category 1 racer, he was ****in ripping along.
I kept with him for the first and almost second checkpoint, but I just couldn't hold onto him.

I had no idea where the Stanley park was so I had to slow down a bit and wait for people who knew where they were going and stick with them.

Man that was fun :D

dude.. bump keys have been around forever. don't sweat it!

sounds like the race went well. As I was leaving for the OTT race from my friend's place in Gatineau I discovered a flat tire and only had a patch kit for me. I got to the start just as it was getting under way and I was already totally out of breath and my knee was aching, so I didn't bother. There was only maybe 7 riders and they all seemed like they're were just going to blast off so I didn't want to slow anyone down or get totally lost (which I have a knack for in Ottawa apparently). Surprisingly there was only one or maybe two guys on fixies.

I manned one of the stations. The front three were very fast, Mitch came in with another rider a few minutes later. By then I'd got my note passing skills down except for one rider that I'd missed and had to chase after. Someone else snuck by in the wrong direction so I had to chase her down too.

About twenty odd riders in all, some flyin', some suckin' wind. It was fun for me too except no one told me when the race was over so I sat on the side of the road for an extra hour until I called the guy at the station ahead of me who told me it was done. Also freaked out some regular road cyclists as there was enough regular bike traffic to make me wave a next checkpoint paper at a few of them if they came by fast enough.

A good time though. Next year I'll be racing in it. Missed out on the after-party, though. I had some stuff to do around home and was already running on about four hours sleep.

I think I was the only one here who was racing, I think there were 24 racers all together.

The after party was great, I got the second best time in the Goldsprints, the guy with the best time beat me by a tenth of a second :o

I just wish they GS had set up earlier. I buggered off about 1:30. I rode the Ride for Karen on Sunday-charity century ride. It was awesome-really well organized, tons of support, and lots of food. Check it out next year, highly recommended.

I ended up riding to and from the start point for a day total of 220 km. Legs are kind of tired today.

Actually I raced too, however I overshot one of the checkpoints by quite a bit. Dropped for about 5th to about 15th. The after party was awsome. The last race on goldsprints put all the rest to shame, by beating the previous 23.03 seconds by a full second each.

I loved seeing friends on their real race bikes though. Reminded me I've really gotta get a good geared racer.

After the race was a bit crazy, we were all waiting at the finish totally frozen. It seemed none of us remembered to bring sweaters, so those of us that had them were wearing really light rain jackets, and all the racers were shivering cold. Now I'm stuck at home instead of out working because of it, too

I rode the Ride for Karen on Sunday-charity century ride. It was awesome-really well organized, tons of support, and lots of food. Check it out next year, highly recommended.

I ended up riding to and from the start point for a day total of 220 km. Legs are kind of tired today.
ONLY 220 km's and yer tired? Time to start training then eh? Good job dude. I know a bunch o folks who did and have done that ride. They all say the same things about a good ride and good organization.
Heres to Mitch who rode like a demon....good job bro...all the B.Fers are proud of ya. Especially me who managed to make a few $$ from the unsuspecting suckers who didn't know the "Power of Mitch"TM. in the Goldsprints. Good time was had by all. Most of the results are in but they are still awaiting a few cities before posting them online. We had a fairly respectable showing with our top guys finishing in what I believe was the top 10. Cheers again to all the racers and special props to the checkpoint folks. Anyone who wants a Global Gutz spoke card who didn't get one can stop by the shop...I have about 15 left.

Keith I'll more than likely run a cd by the shop with the pictures in a raw format. I'd love to take another card if possible, just to keep nice.

Official Toronto Global Gutz Photog can have 2 if he wishes. How did the shots turn out anyways? Must be some good ones.
