When's the first one? I'm kind of excited to try it out. Do I need a license to race these?

Yes, but I think you can likely pick up a day-license.. that's what I used to do for my occasional mtn bike races back in the day, anyway.

edit: whoops.. didn't see keith's response.

I almost hope never to reach my top road bike speed ever again (95km/hr) as it was one of the scariest, most thrilling, white knuckle rides of my life. Keith is battling the dreaded cold. He gave my daughter one of his old disk golf disks.

hah.. yeah, I realize my top roadbike speed is pretty lame (especially since I've done 50+ offroad on a rigid mtn bike).. there aren't any long enough hills in the GTA. :D

That would be amazing. I can help with gas, beer etc. You in the shop this weekend at all, or evenings? I'd like to order that IRO frame. Must build bike..... I have been getting out of here right at 6 the last few days as I am fighting the sickness. I will be around on Saturday tho. Ordering the IRO wont be a prob as long as he gets the order before the 1st of Oct. Waiting on the raffle winners to do an order....realistically mid next week.

Ok, no big rush. I'll stop by after the tour d'onut on Saturday and see if you are around. Unless I get 3 flats in a row like last time, use my last patch, and have to fill my tire with water from a puddle one pump barrel at a time so I can ride the last 20 km home like last week. Where is this bad karma coming from??

It's ok.. the 58 year old heart-attack survivor I was riding with hit a top speed about 2km/h less than me. It was lame. :)

I've never raced one, so I don't know! I think with a team of 4-6 people is a lovely mix of beer drinkin' and riding.. :) Cavernmech/Darkmother/Kaibot have (I think) all raced them before, so they're probably more knowledgable.

And yeah, what ever happened to the running track idea? Let's do it!

I was on a 10 person team this year and I would definately like to be on a smaller one next time...not enuf laps available. With a little effort on our parts we could shurely come up with a few sponsors to cover the costs of the team...perhaps some jerseys. I think 6 would be perfect. That way everyone gets a night lap also. Night laps are the *****!

The mountain bike relay races are really fun, they are only as competative as you want them to be. As the number of riders/team goes up, the amount of beer consumption/rider increases exponentially. We should put together a team, doesn't have to be super hardcore.

Yeah, a 10 person team is way too much sitting around. 6 would be nice, probably 4 laps per person. I'd love to do it-I'll even bust it single speed to keep it on topic.

I will say that an effort to get a corporate site is worthwhile....water tap and hydro on site. Makes it wayyy easier.

I'm sure you can borrow someone's lights-if you are a real masochist I'll let you use mine...I take no responsibility for your safety though-probably better to ride with a penlight clenched between your teeth.

If any of you are looking for light systems I will keep my eye out for end of season closeouts from my suppliers. I got my 20 watt system (more than sufficient for night riding) for $50 on closeout last year. If I come across anything I will post up.

Laphroig? DOH! I will bring the Laphroig and the Dalwhinnie...you bring the Cellar 13 and A'bunadh..Deal?
Also I have the lock you won in the raffle...its a beast...especially handy in these sad times of rampant bike theft.
Also Jacques got his bike back so if you see any Pista riders out there leave em alone.

Does anyone know where I could get one of those little bags that fit under the rear of your seat? Kinda like this one; MEC maybe?

i've got a model by ortlieb that i picked up at urbane. it's waterproof and has a buckle mechanism that snaps right onto your saddle rails without straps. nice design.
