Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

7pm according to the website.

I will be leaving work (front&bay) at around 5:30, dropping off a dvd at suspect video at bloor and markham, and then heading to mcbride's. If anyone is going the same way let me know.

How about 1pm? I think Rob wants to go too.

If not, 1230pm is still good for me.

1:00 works for me. Also, I'll likely head over to McBride's when I get off at 5:00.

ps. James, you're too fast. I was just about to hit Submit when you called. :)

what route do you normally take? I can't imagine that there are any particularly nice routes down from York. :P

ps. Ronin2046: apparently my laptop battery is pooched. This battery diagnostic they used reported the battery as having 217% charge. :P Tried a known-good battery in there and it worked fine. Of course, the battery is a few months out of warranty. D'oh! Icing on the cake: I go to buy a new one and they're out of stock. *beats head against wall*

Naw I would'nt do that to you dude unless ya stand me up and leave me waiting somewhere.

That's one of the perks of working at this concrete wasteland/slum parking lot. I'm pretty sure 90% of drivers up here have never actually seen a bicycle a road, except in the movies. I actually have a pretty slick route to my place, all things considered, and, because I am bored silly, I am going to map it out.

I need new winter gloves, but I think I should get pre winters as well. My fingers took beating in the last cold season. I saw some neat work/swingin hammer gloves at home depot I might take another gander at. Anyone know where to get Pryme gloves here in Toronto?

Yeah, thanks for bailing. You missed out on all the track/roadie stuff in the next building...

Just kidding.

They have a few things. Nothing too exciting.

They have: racks, shimano shoes, gloves (not too much), tires (mtb/road), typically XT,XTR,SRAM,AVID mountain bike grouppo stuff...

They DO have a 58cm Fuji Track bike. I'm not sure what year. But it's grey/black. The sticker said $649.99 I'm not sure if that's the price for the whole bike, or just frame and fork, cuz it was just that. Maybe they haven't built it up complete. Man, if it was a 54,53, or 52, I'd snatch it right up.

They also have a yellow Norco Monterey road bike, I think its a 56cm. Too that was also too big for me. :(

They also have some Mavic Open 4 CD (2x28hole, 1x36hole), a Velocity rim (not sure which one) and other brands.

The line-up to purchase was MASSIVE! It's all these guys buying up all the motorcycle sh*t. :D

Hey Toronto Fixed Gear riders:

I was going to put this thread into the Regional Subforums as I think it would be better served there and that is pretty much the purpose of that area. I know this is a pretty Fixed Gear specific thread and it is really helpful, but what are you thoughts on opening it up to the Regional Subforums? PM me your thoughts and concerns on this. The placement of this thread will be based on your thoughtful input.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. There were some road bikes, lower end mountain bikes, a few free ride bikes and a bunch of hybrids. 30% off bikes, 40% off accessories. Not a whole lot in the acc. dept unless you're looking for something really specific. I wouldn't bother, personally. You could probably get as good a deal at the Bike Show.

BTW how is your back doing? Mine is telling me it's almost time to see the chiropractor again for a couple weeks.

Do you have a chiropractor? I met a super awesome one that volunteered on the Bike Rally. I like throwing business to good people. :)

FYI. For all the bargain hunters out there....McBrides Cycle has gone tits up and they are selling everything in the store at minimum 40% off. There are many worthwhile deals there if you care to make the trip.

Wow, I bought my first serious bicycle off of them years ago but yeah, they suffer from a bad location for higher-end stuff. If any of you guys do go up there check out High Park Cycles, just down the street from McBrides, to have your mind blown by the old track stuff and old Italian frames. Just don't take anything the owner says at face value, he is a nutter.

edit: I wouldn't mind the move, [165], whatever works best

So what do people think of moving this thread to a regional subforum? I've emailed 165 and he suggested a locked sticky in fixed/ss so people in the big smoke could find us (which was my concern). oh dear lord that guy in high park cycles is crazy and truly frustrating to deal with if you actually need work done (you should watch him run to his bench vise to get a lockring off). also creepy: i didn't see a single repair stand in his shop. i live around the corner and i'd still rather cross town to work done at cavern or urbane.
but yes it is a museum of cycling lore to marvel at. a while ago he had an original raliegh carlton track bike with 27" sew ups and a fully campy track kit on it. was it for sale? who knows...
