Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Its a depressing thought, but I honestly have to say, if I didn't have a group like this to commiserate with, I might not be cycling today... Being a 'lone victim' is a hell of a lot worse than being in a community of victims. Its good to know you're all out there fighting the good fight

I'm sure this has been asked 10 000 times, but I can't be bothered to go through 531 pages, so I will ask again. I live downtown, I have a mountain bike and a road bike, and I'm thinking of going fixed too (if you have two bikes, why not three?). The problem is I don't want to spend a huge amount of money on it.
I have an old Raleigh 3 speed internal hub bike which is sweet, but I just read that it uses 650cc wheels, and I'd need a new crank, etc etc. I have a nice extra set of wheels that I could use, though I'd need the Surly Fixxer, so I could do a frame build up job...
I've looked at Urbane, and they have a nice frame, but it's pretty expensive. $450 for the frame and fork. Once I start buying the rest I'm getting into the price range of a new one from Specialized or Bianchi.
Any other ideas? Ideally (sorry this is long) I'd like to get a bike that I can either run SS or Fixed, that has brakes, and is 61cm or thereabouts.
David.

I've been looking at ordering from IRO Cycle or from someone who distributes Surly. I'm actually going to wait 'till the Bike Show on the 21st to see if anyone has any new track frames on the cheap ( ~ $300)

When my band was on tour in 2000 our drummer had a threesome in Calgary. We made him describe every last detail and it was the most hilarious thing ever. Our guitarist nearly drove us off the road.. :P

Yeah well don't feel too bad. I was going westbound on Bloor and taking the lane since I was about to turn Left on StG. Going the speed of traffic (which wasn't very fast) And this asshat behind me layed on his horn.
I gave him an earful when I slowed down and pulled up besides his window. I yelled so loud he looked like he was stunned by a flashbang.

Same boat... single layer Neoprene and tackified palms perferably.
PS. Rob, you got one crazy yell... I remember when you went ape at a dude outside of the st. george subway entrance because you almost walked into eachother or something. That was like 2 years ago...

That certainly wasn't the case for our drummer. He'd take his shirt off half way through a set and the deal would be sealed. :P

isn't there a kids in the hall sketch about "the base player"? i think it describes a deffinate lack of action on the female front.
can't make CM tonight, i was keen on going but plans are plans.
i've stopped yelling at drivers because it just makes me more upset so i usually just spit or wave at them manically like a ****** (ie. with a big *****-eating grin on my face. i mean that in the most politically correct sense; there's no better way to describe it).

Jeremy...what was cookin' this week?
I've tried to stop being mean to the poor, misunderstood drivers and just carve around them as much as possible.
This to help in my endless quest to be a better example to my kids, than the road ragin' freak I have been in the past.
Maybe if I pretend hard enough they will all go away. Anyone wanna PM a celly in case I make it out later? When CM done normally?

Jeremy...what was cookin' this week?
monday was salad italienne (salad w/ peppers, tomatoes, salami, asiago, vinaigrette), pototo salad w/ lemon vinegairette
tuesday was apple pie, roast pork, shnizel (sp?), goulash and scones.
i think i'm getting gout.
this reminds me, for all the broke students on here you can get a great meal such as these at the GBC cafetieria for under $5. usually enough for 2 meals in them.

we did the schitzel with pork as it was "pork week" (which sounds about as dirty as "pike fishing" or "threesome"...oh wait...) i have all the recipes if you want them (you just have to scale them down becuase they yield enough for 40 people or more). i'm not sure what the goulash was, plenty of hand-staining paprika though.
for sure send along the family secrets; i'll add it to my archives.
