This one girl who works at ideal makes the best coffee AND her smile totally makes my day. Just though I'd put that out there.
I smell a missed connection brewing

Hahaha that Blue Order guy is off the hook. I posted in an unrelated thread he started and he called me out in it because of what I had said in the stop sign thread!
You cuddle toy sociopath you. I had to place HH on ignore. I think Blue Order might be an actual police officer, but you know those "letter of the law" types. It doesn't matter if the law kills everyone in a 100mile radius, it's still the law.

Hey guys,
How many of you have your own bike repair stand? I am contemplating buying a used Park PCS-1 stand on craigslist.
I really should get myself one...
Thoughts?

Speaking of which, there's an urbanite locked up in front of my building today with risers.. I feel like keying "biter" into the downtube. I kid! I kid!
ps. as if I was the only person on a fixed-gear trying to look cool there. It's hipster central! :P

Man am I glad I get to lock up indoors. Theres never really an occasion where I leave my bike locked up outside for more than an hour these days.
Especially with the ring post debacle... Its getting really tough to find something safe to lock to. Extra especially with a krypto mini!

I've gotten over being scared about leaving my bike locked up. If its gone its gone there isn't much I can do about it and I refuse to run my life based on where i can put my bike. I love my bike but its still just a bike and its main job is to get me from point A to point B. If some ****** grabs it it'll be pretty hard to move anyways, its the only like it there is. Anyways to each his own.
Is there gonna be another CV before we all winterize and pleasure riding is put away till next spring??

Haven't yet. This will be the first year. Only thing I've bought are brake pads and tyres. Granted, I know this is a bad practice, but I am also a firm believer of the protective qualities of a layer of filth and grease.

Not bad-that's reliable equipment. Winter weather really kills my stuff. I went through 3 sets of cartridge bearings in my IRO rear hub last year-every time they had failed because the grease got washed out of the bearing. The shimano road bike front hub got by with two overhauls a year -maybe it would tollerate less, but there usually wasn't much grease left in there when I opened it up. I think the MTB hubs these days really are much better sealed-all my stuff is too old to know for sure though-I'm running oldschool 7 speed XT on my CX and MTB. Are you running those shimano ones wth the cone shaped rubber boots? Looks like they have way better seals.

Yes you should get one; the pcs-1 is great. I picked up the pcs-9 (not as good as the one you’re looking at) from MEC love having it. So if the pcs-1 is a good price grab it.
Cheers

What a Bagel has pretty good rugelach. If you're downtown there's one just south of Wellesley on Yonge. If you don't mind going a little further north, there's one at Spadina and Lonsdale in Forest Hill Village (north of St. Clair). Bring your laptop, Forest Hill is a wired (free) community. There's another bakery up at Bathurst and Eglinton, but the best ones are further north.
Offhoff - yes a bike stand is worth it. I have a home made one I use quite often.

Beh. We use the pcs-1's at bike chain, as far as portable stands go, they're good but still nowhere near as good as a permanent one (i.e it moves around when you're trying to do ****).

hey i saw your email to the toronto fixed group list. i was going to respond saying try urbane, so, um try urbane. why not run the miche hubs through the winter? i believe they are sealed; i ran mine all last winter and they were fit as a fiddle after a cleaning and re-greasing in the spring.
as for pleasure rides in the winter, i see no greater pleasure than riding our bikes to the pub and downing a few while we talk shop. that's a winter pleasure ride...

you can work off the subs and bike up to bathurst / eglington. any bakery on bathust between there and lawrence usually makes fine rugelach.
i can't remember being that cold on a bike in a long time. i didn't wear shorts like somnambulant's friend but i did neglect to bring a jacket.

a man is entitled to his lists (my wife has her's too).
besides, the idea is to just separate into categories of attractiveness, such as 'coffee date hot' or 'afraid she'll steal your kidney hot'...you get the idea.

The gang members are trying to keep themselves free of nanites, so we’re
asking people to bring their own orifice covering headgear (swim
goggles, headphones, noseplugs, mukluks, etc) but we’ll provide the duct
tape for your mouths.
Uhhhhhh.... Thanks?
