I like the look of them but I'd prefer polished.
It is a really tough call on the bike. Can you go see it as a perspective buyer?

Bring some friends and a pickup you can toss the ride into, if it ends up being yours.
Can you prove ownership via Serial#?

darkmother
10-20-06, 10:23 AM
If it's yours, personally, I don't think you have to prove anything. I'd just take it and tell the guy he's lucky I don't rip his arms off and beat him with them.

10-20-06, 10:30 AM
Should I email the guy and ask for the serial number (as it looks like if he did buy it stolen, he's taken of the rack and such)?

What's a polite way of going about this?

Hrm, tough question. What documentation do you have? Have you registered the theft with the police? I suppose you could win the auction and then, with a police report in hand, nail the guy and get your money back. Can you get out to Burlington? Email the seller and say that you live in Burlington and if there is any way you could take it out for a test ride before the auction ends, just so you can see if it fits before you bid.

Any under $4000 road bike sucks.
Fixed gear sucks.
Scotch sucks.
Toronto sucks.
Suggestion of an alternate route sucks.
Babs rocks.
Discuss and or bicker.

Can't bicker with the truth.

I'll get over it.

The driver's insurance company has already approved $7490 +PST & GST to buy a new bike, which means I don't have to replace parts this winter. Doctor has written enough Perc's to keep me high for a month and the lawyer has assured me that the settlement will cover this year's winter vacation for me and the family.

I think its a fair trade. If I'm gonna get hit I'm gonna profit.

From what I understand, the JIT was heckling Babs from the front row. Rather than tell him to fkuc off in true Babs fashion...she stage dived her immense girth upon him...fracturing not only his ribs but his pride also.

"sissy-boy" That's the best you can do, And you call yourself a chef. Insults are part of my interview process when I hire people. That is can they take the insults I dish out. That's what working at Siegfrieds does to you.

Speaking of which how is the food there. Friends of mine want me to go there with them. Having 'worked' there in the past I have no desire to ever return. although I do have fond memories of doing deserts there and buggering off for three hours at Betty's instead, then returning to serve some kind of ice cream I made.

Oddly enough for it to come up right now as the one and only time I was at Betty's was for my friend Sabine's celebration after she (successfully) defended her PhD dissertation, and it's her husband who asked me to be in his band this week. Seemed like a pretty cool place!

does anyone else think these are ugly (they're the new Paul fixie cranks):

http://www.paulcomp.com/cramk.jpg

i don't know what it is; maybe it's the colour. think i'd like them better in polished silver.

What a shallow ripoff of the CIOCC scheme: card pips in the cranks... bleah...

And Betty's is a favourite drinking hole. Exceptional crispy wings...mmm....so crispy.

Although I too feel distinctly unsafe, I will likely not make the safety meeting as I'm busy cramming SAS code in my head. Mayhap I will feel safe enough to venture out.

Thursday October 26th

See two Canadian premieres about traffic problems and solutions in big
cities:

- "Contested Streets: Breaking New York City Gridlock"
(Denmark/France/USA/UK, 2006, 56min - Canadian premiere) - a film about
New York City street life prior to the introduction of the car and, a
century later, learning from London, Paris, and Copenhagen in reclaiming
our streets as vibrant public spaces.

- "A Conversation With Enrique Peñalosa" (USA, 2006, 12min - Canadian
premiere) - an interview with the mayor of Bogota about his dedication to
introducing bicycles and bicycle culture to his city

Following the films will be a panel discussion with Clarence Eckerson Jr
(Filmmaker, "A Conversation With Enrique Peñalosa"), Constance Exley
