Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

did anyone see the new video on martino's bike lane diary (http://bikelanediary.blogspot.com/)? apparently, the people at the ellen degeneress (sp) show had a bike messenger from NY on their show to talk about messengering and things. i see he was wearing a helmet; i wonder if that's just for the show?

Haven't listened to that one in a few years. I think the weather is about right for some senselessly loud jazz blasting this evening. (can I go home now, please?)

I normally get into work dry, but with a soaked T-shirt and damp socks (Sweat!). Today it was the exact opposite, my t-shirt was dry, my feet were dry, but I was soaked totally through everywhere else!

I was locking up my bike in the basement and laying out my clothes on the empty bike racks (all but the one my bike is in) and the young, hugely fat, bearded security guard walks down and asks "What are you moaning and groaning about?" Well I wasn't really moaning and groaning as far as I remember but I took his word and said "Cuz I'm SOAKED!" and he said "Well you do have a choice. Its your fault after all. You could have teken a taxi thas what they are for" I was a little taken aback so I just said "Yeah I guess so, if you're a sucker! Riding my bike to work is better regardless of the weather. I just ended up wet today is all"

I don't think he got it. I'm praying my clothes will dry by this afternoon....

That was Squid on Ellen. He is the numero uno organizer in N.Y. Hell of a nice guy. I am not sure if he used to wear a helmet regularly, but as he is Captain of the Puma/N.Y. team, he might have to now.

I know i have a love/hate relation ship with my helmet.

If you want to go the build something nicer route let me know...I can give you an IRO Jamie Roy frameset and some nice wheels for the $ you have to spend. Only gets you halfway there but would be way nicer than anything off the peg. Oh.... Sorry I keep forgetting to bring yer tube and patch kit to hockey.

That was the wish, figured that I have enough cranks, stems and bars that that would work, but my wife has decided that if I have money to buy a 4th bike with, I have money to pay back the $$ I borrowed from her line of credit, so hub from Shapelike is being ordered.

Her other suggestion was to sell my cannondale and use that money to buy a bike if I wanted. Don't want a new fix bike that bad.

Anyone want to ride around the CNE (or elsewhere) later tonight? That's assuming it's not pouring buckets, of course. How about 11PM? And by the way, the CNE has bright streetlamps which illuminate the whole course pretty well.

To the shop guys on the forum: Anyone know of a shop that orders from Quality Bike Products in the states? I'm looking to get a replacement cone for my Suzue Junior POS and QBP is the only outfit that makes the 3/16 size. Urbane just did a big order and won't be doing another for a bit. Harris Cyclery can do it but requires a $50 USD minimum order for Canadian orders. I've got an email out to Marcus at Yojimbo's.

No, have this (http://www.cannondale.com/bikes/03/cusa/model-3MRBB.html) and an almost complete frankenbike. 21" road frame with 26 inch wheels and a bunch of other fugly stuff. Going to be the rain frame for the fixed wheel. Getting the Wheeler "fixed" in several ways come next week and spring. Getting a hub and wheel from Shapelike on Sunday, and then going to dremel off the cable guides and rear brake studs, and have my brother-in-law paint it with his airbrush come spring. Painted it last week with some cheap rustpaint from Crappy Tire. Fire Red colour, just painted over the stickers and all. Just want to protect from further rust over the winter. Doesn't look that bad concidering.

Oh man was that a crazy windy ride home! On front street I got caught in the side by a gust and almost lost my front wheel. Then I was pretty much slowed to a crawl going west on douro street, hit every once in a while by a strong side gust. Then I was waiting at the light on shaw at king trackstanding and a gust hit me in the back so hard I almost rolled into the intersection! once I got on shaw it seemed like a tailwind most of the way so when I was close to home I started to ride no hands. But of course a sidewind hits me immediately and I almost lose it again! FUn!
