Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I can order them in ... I literally just want to see the latest M.U.L.E. and Mayhem and see how much **** they'll hold in person. I need something to carry tools, jacket, arm warmers, camera, etc. for this year's bike rally and I wouldn't mind experimenting w/ one of these things as a "no, I don't need this messenger bag every day" bag.
Maybe I'll swing by Duke's and see what's up. *cringe*

Anyone going to Sweet Petes bike sale tomorrow? I'm heading down, wanted to se if anyone wanted to meet for coffee/ride before. Thinking to be there around 11-11:30.
wish i could join you, but i'm off to the tree farm tomorrow for a whole, olde tyme whitehorn family christmas.
as for camelbacks, i concur with the duke's suggestions. i wouldn't feel bad about playing with product there.

Europe Bound across the street from MEC had a decent selection of Camelbacks the last time I was there.

ditto on the limbo time. I'm away the week before xmas and not returning here until late in the evening on xmas day, but I'm then off until the 4th, so I'm good to go that whole week.
Also: I'm willing to be the host for a scotch party if we aren't going to go out to a bar.
because i really want this scotch thing to happen, i'll take on the role of de facto organiser. how's friday december 29th for everyone? it's in limbo time, it's a friday, it could be a different kind of safety meeting etc. Wes has been generous enough to offer his place. if that falls through, we could always head to feather's pub on kingston road.
here's what i propose: contact me if you're interested so we can get together a list of parties. rules would be:
- everyone brings one 750ml bottle.
- single malts only from scotland (no blends / no american whisky)
- $30-50 per bottle
- everyone leaves with one bottle that they didn't bring (we'll all swap...you get the idea)
- tell us what bottle you'll be bringing ahead of time so there's no overlap.

Don't you already have a nice Cyclocross bike for winter?
350 sounds decent.

Yeah I do, but its not really 'for winter'. My cx bike is the nicest bike I have and I'm slowly setting it up for long haul touring. It stays locked up indoors and is set up for fast, dry winter riding at the moment... I don't really wanna beat it up and invite rust since its fairly thin triple butted steel.
Hence why a dedicated winter bike appeals to me, especially if they will customize it off the peg for no charge.

Get it. Thats a great price for an off the rack Kona thats good to go for winter. Would be hard to get parts to build one for the same price unless you have a frame ready. Are going to use a tensioner, or a half link? Is the rear wheel a conversion, or a dedicated s/s? Just curious (I have a great s/s wheel available as well that is for sale, excellent rim and sealed hub).
Other options are
http://toronto.craigslist.org/bik/246886507.html
or
http://toronto.craigslist.org/bik/246432601.html
but this would probably be to small and I don't know if you are looking to do a build.
Edit: The more I look at the Smoke, the more I like it. $350, awesome price.
So last night around 10ish I was riding westbound on College towards this party I'm going to get wasted at... I'm stopped at the red light at Bathurst, and just as the light turns green, I see this chick blow by me on an olive-green fixie with a honey Brooks. Wow! Needless to say, I catch up to her and strike up a conversation, but I mean there's only so much you can say when you're trying to pay attention to her and make sure you don't get run over at the same time.
Does anybody know this girl? Is she on this forum? If so, I want her phone number. I don't know if it was a proper fixie or a conversion, but the bike was definately olive-green, didn't have any decals, looked pretty old, but had a nice and shiny Brooks B17 (or Professional). Oh, and blond hair. And she can really move.
Someone help me out!
Oh, and if it helps identifying her, she said she also rides a blue Ciocc.
Darkmother: I got a flat right at Bathurst and Highway 7 and didn't have any tubes. Worst ride evah!

Well, it appears to need a bit of work but I'll get you over for a cup of mud once I've got it fixed up and dialed in. It may be a bit of an older one so I need to check the temperature on it and the seals etc.
Now I need to create a coffee altar in my kitchen for it.

i wouldn't worry about the age; those machines seem to last forever. any price paid for those is a deal based on the amount of time it will last.
can i suggest velvet ropes, insence (sp), and an oil painting of it sitting in the altar?

did you happen to see the new trek track / SS complete bike they had in there? looked pretty nice (despite the rear brake cable being held to the frame with zip ties). the kona "paddy wagon" looks like a nice complete bike as well. i saw one locked up on front street complete with rack and fenders; nice design.

you're not supposed to drink the whole bottle in one night; i think the idea is that you do a sampling and then take home the leftovers as a doggy bag.

Most of the Scotch I have is beyond the price range suggested, some of it a fair bit so, so if we were doing the swap, I'd need to buy a bottle. I also need to double check the dates. I should be back in town by the 29th, but I can't recall off the top of my head.
