I'm going out soon I think.. gotta run some errands -- go to bikes on wheels to buy some new winter gloves (seems wrong on a day like today) and use my store credit, buy some photo frames, drop off some 120 film, and buy some nerdy books at Bakka. :)

cam, we'll have to hook up some other time.. i'm heading to markham pretty soon and i won't be back until sunday night. i went by cavern to drop off some booty and to check out the nishiki..it might be ready by monday! just in time for the snow. keith still has a few frames left. the pink miele is really nice but big (58cm), well at least for me. i think there are 2-3 other frames with an assortment of stuff on them. none of them have wheels though. why are people posting?! y'all should be out ridin'!!!!!! gung hei fat choy!

oh.. I also stopped by the Bike Joint, and found out that there's gonna be ice races at Dufferin Grove Park on Feb 18th, for those interested.

Keither's gonna smack the taste out yo' face for that one.
I'm looking forward to the ice races. I'm going to do absolutely terribly and likely hurt myself. That being said, good times should be had by all.

I told him that I didn't have any studded tires and his response was that there's a race for that too.. yikes! That sounds hurty.. :P
Or very slow...
Had anyone planned on moonbean for today? I'm looking at the rain and not relishing getting drenched riding there, so I don't want to stand anyone up.

I'm going to stop by in a few minutes, but I'm not really expecting anyone to be there. This weather is disgusting. I'm saying everyone hide indoors today and save yourself the case of pneumonia.
As far as the ice races go, I'm thinking that's going to get deligated to Sputter. The last time I repacked the bottom bracket on that bike I found out the fixed cup was seized. That's going to be a bit of a hassle since I need to pull out the whole BB when I replace the crankset (which is currently trashed - again) and measure out the new chainline. Once the new shop opens up I'll actually have time to do that and things should be good to go by mid-Feb.
... and I'm procrastinating. Time to head out into the rain.
It was disgusting, but I must have missed you. I was sitting by the window looking out at the rain. I realized heading down there, that we have no idea what each other look like. Well, I have the nacho picture to go from for you. The only folks I've met are Bikeophile, Operator and Gokiburi.
Are you still looking for a 48 t Sugino 75 ring?

Anyone know where I could locate a framebuilder in Toronto? Or someone who could braze on a new set of drop outs for my converted Trek 660. I have to drop outs made I'm just not sure where to track I can track someone down to braze them on.
Any suggestions welcome, thanks.

try Biseagal in the east end (carlaw / gerrard). they're doing some frame work and painting a frame for me now. last time i went by to check in on it i was talking to malcom and he told me that he's actually done lots of dropout conversions. from what i remember he said he even builds full custom track/fixed frames for about $800.00
i'm not sure what he'll charge for the brazing, but his pricing for other framework is very reasonable.

i don't think their website is up at the moment; try calling them, they're very helpful.

Bicycle Specialties does framebuilding.
His house brand is Mariposa and its all custom.
Not sure where the prices start, + I'm sure they can easily covert to horiz. dropouts for ya.
They're located in Scarborough. if you do go, they got sweet NOS stuff.
Carey Chen at Urbane Cyclist could likely do it too. Mike at Bicycle Specialties http://www.bikespecialties.com/ can do the work (as per sr20det). The only down side is they don't have a lot of shop hours options.

Sorry, no internet at home. Saturday was amazing though, almost like a summer day. I went and rode that hill by the bluffs for kicks. It is steep for about 100m, but short overall. Actually the access road to the Glendon gym I ride dailly is steeper than that.

What's the deal w/ that gum? Wacky flavour, uber bubble ability?
sr20det
01-30-06, 11:04 PM
caffine content.
+ its from Japan, Keirin racers approve of it :)
aside from that. its just mint flavor and black. haha.
haha oh yea, the wording on the package is pretty funny.
Typical crappy Japanese translations.
It says something like "high-tech gum" .... something weird like that.
but by FAR, the best Japanese candy is this:
Hi-Chews!
Chewyest shiz you ever had in your mouth.
It should become the official candy of BF.
