Because the real bottle isn't nearly as good as the Johnny Blue (jack blue? am I high? No one answer that) in my opinion. Its "real" as in a single malt, but Johnny Blue is well better even if it IS a blend. I was just wondering how hard and fast the rules are.

i'm a bit of a purist myself and feel that drinking a blend of anything simply isn't the same. i've had some of the nicer Johnny Walkers and they're good but, you know. Also it's american, which breaks rule number two. I say bring the single malt and we'll decide if it's good or bad.

i'll leave you to confer with the experts

I think part of the idea is to taste the difference from the regional malts. While Johnny Blue is no doubt a good bottle, it is a blend, which kind of takes away from the whole tasting idea. We can always use it for the "wash" between malt tastings. :p
What is it anyway? Fiddich? Livet? Its all good.

A little scotch to cleanse the palate, i thought that's what beer was for?

if it is a livet/fiddich/morangie we can start with that one...

To be honest I get so much liquor given to me this time of year and drink so little I don't know what treasures my liquor cabinet might hold. It will almost certainly be something better then a livet/fiddich/morangie. I'll save the Johnny Blue for another time.

Nothing beats the SNL xmas special where Chris Farley comes out shirtless, streaming with sweat obviously coked out of his mind and ruins the whole skit but makes it far funnier in the end because of his chemical ludicrousness.

 I wouldn't know if it's better. I'll save ya some as I'm really not much of a drinker of the hard stuff.
I can only enjoy single malts so I suppose my palette(sp?) can tell if it's good.

CG was full on creepy in that movie where he controlled a **** load of rats.
I wanna be a track rider, I can't wait to be able to zooom around the banks.

Yes i got a while ago via evil-bay rather then there site. It’s nice, simple, soft, breathable mine is the cotton blend i have a rather large lid @7 3/8 & i have some room.
The only thing i don’t like about it is my head dose not fill it out fully so it puckers at the seams a bit 4 panels on top. But it’s a one size & for 10.00 not bad. I like it.

Only one snow fall so far lasted about a day & now the grass is green as ever I look out the window & think do I need to cut it. Ha ha

On the crazy driver tip... on my way home from work the other night I'm stopped at Richmond and Bathurst on the yellow waiting for the red to flip and watching the fancy new countdown to fun crosswalk sign... 3... 2... what the sh*t... a minivan jumps the south curb about five cars back and I guess realizing that he's in the wrong lane decides to rectify his poor planning by straddling the curb at top speed . Just as the green comes up and he enters the intersection, he makes a fast right cutting across both lanes of traffic. He continues full on with a slight fish tail north in the right hand turning lane cutting off everyone driving north. Insane.

All that holiday cheer has got people wound up pretty tight. It did strengthen my resolve to keep my earbuds out of my ears in the city.

Flour (seasoned flour) the meat and veg before searing. The flour will thicken the cooking liquid, making a mighty fine sauce. I like to sear the meat, remove it and sear the veg. Add 1 cup red wine or beer, reduce by 1/2, place meat back in and cover with water or stock. Boil, reduce heat to simmer and cook covered for about 2hours. Taste, season and watch the wifes eyes glaze as she tastes your meat.

Making venison stew myself for tonight. House smells wicked. Guiness adds the right touch to bambi platters

Edit: The roast, when she tastes the roast.

yo Jer...if you wanna go for a ride this weekend lemme know...I wouldnt mind going...maybe a coffee ride or suttin...Whats cooking at your gates? tryin to figure out how to do this potroast...sear then oven i guess? also how to make a good sauce is a dilemma...any ideas?

i'll be doing the family thing most of the weekend, maybe monday or tuesday i'll be around for coffee.

yeah, you got the idea with the pot roast; dredge in flour then brown on all sides then in the oven until it's done how you like it (rare). check with a thermometer to be sure. let it rest 10 min before cutting to retain juices. as for gravy, save the pan juice and add equal parts flour to however much fat is left in the pan. whisk until it's combined, remove that from the pan, deglaze with a little wine or stock and add the mix back to the pan, reduce a little and strain. skim off any fat, add salt as needed etc. easy as pie.

I dont know if I am missing something...how does that leave room for a lockring? Good idea.
Whoever said today was gonna be crazy in the shops? I did my usual complete last minute shopping extravaganza in 3 hours this morning/afternoon. Even had time for a haircut. The core is dead. Good times!
