Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Not lately. The forum can be pretty twitchy though. What are you using for an OS/browser?
XP and Firefox. It literally asks me to sign in EVERYTIME I do anything. It's so annoying. Wow I feel so much better expressing this. It's like digital therapy.

l_Brad, interesting to see you're on the tribe forum....
Didn't take you for a techno/house/jungle head.
I'm into all sorts of things! You're just as likely to find me at a house night as a bluegrass show.
I think I've posted more about bikes and cooking on that site than anything else though :p
I've been out for a few rides with the guy that owns tribe actually, he rides quite a bit too. :)

Wow what the hell?? I just posted that sarcastic "digital therapy" comment and it is currently 3:37pm. The time on the post says 9:35am and it placed it in the middle of the page. This is more than a little bit "whack".

i simply cannot stop watching 24! i was actually going to go out riding this morning but no, no i watched 4 episodes in a row.
on another topic: i think it's funny that so many of us put together winter bikes and will probably not need them this year.
nice ride out on to the spit last night lads. love that eerie foggy quiet out there.

just rent the first season and watch and it in order one episode at a time. you won't be able to stop watching once you're into it. it's playing on my TV right now actually. my wife is getting "caught up" before we move forward.

The other day I had a killer witty reply to something someone said. It would have knocked everyone on their azzes. But the Forum wouldn't let me post. It just sat there looking at me. Today it's fine, but I have nothing to say since I don't watch 24.:p
P.S. Thanks to Ronin and Lymbzero for visiting me at work the other day... Except Ronin who arrived on his new ride, ruining my work pants.:D

Yeah damn too bad I didn't check the forums until pretty late yesterday, I would have been up for that ride for sure.
Actually, about the winter bikes, I think winter is just going to just blast us sometime in January or Febuary out of the blue. At that point, I will wish that I had actually gone to the trouble of installing fenders on my bike. Unless I actually bother to do it before then that is.

Oh wow, I just put it together that you are the Robin from Curbside when I clicked on the link in your signature and saw the pic of your Surly. I don't know if that is of interest to anyone other than myself, but I am proud of myself for figuring that out :). (I'm the Dan that came in on my Red/White fade Mielle fixed gear conversion in October because it felt "weird and grindy" and you guys noticed that my seatstay had snapped off).

It just happened while I was riding. I never crashed on the bike. I think there must have been a crack and then I rode off a curb or something and it finally let go. The bike just started to feel weird while I was riding it, when I backpedaled it felt spongey and when I hit a bump it felt kind of grindy and weird. Malcolm at Biseagal repaired it for me. Actually he rewelded both seat stays, he said that on this particular Mielle model there was not a large enough contact area for the seat stay welds. His father-in-law had the exact frame and it broke in the same spot. He put some nice beefy welds on there and so far so good. Here's a couple of crappy late night pics that I just took now. The bike is dirty and the light is crappy. I will take a couple of nice pics with natural light and post them in the pictures section one of these days.

I want to lock tight a track cog and sell it on CL with the title

Question: What's rotofix?
It's slang for a method of over tightening a cog to lessen the need for a lockring. essentially you forgo a chainwhip and simply bind the chain around the cog and turn the wheel. i've done it and it works well (also works for removing a cog). read the instructions here (http://204.73.203.34/fisso/eng/schpignone.htm), they explain it better than i can.

ahyea it is a NICE ride , some of Kingston Road sucks but the rest of the way to the UFO viewing area is great ,, Nice bike you made , I might have have to switch over to recumbent bikes to get the full back support that the Doctors are telling me I need , I like this bike

Have they finished the ramp up to the bridge at Rouge river yet, or do you still have to carry your bike up the stairs?

was'nt done last time I was there but they finished doing the support work on the giant piers that will hold up the ramp. I have been using the rouge valleyhighway #2 run as a bypass

He listed it a couple of weeks ago for more cash, maybe you can talk him down further? I am not sure why but the San Jose doesn't appeal to me; could it be useful for offroad or is it more for a commuter market?

being an admittedly older guy I kinda like the more relaxed geometry, (better for my lower back). I'm kind of drawn to the wheel switch possibilities of the cross as well with the best of both world's in a single frame. I'm guilty of wanting several bikes now though as much as I've tried desperately deny my natural nurturing nature to any and all wayward bike parts that might come my way. It's so easy to suddenly find oneself with an entire wing of the mansion dedicated to all things cycling.
My ideal quiver would be a bike for every use and then some, BUT that's not going to happen unless we hit the numbers. Sooo a SS/fixie flip/flop ripper for street/track and a geared cross ride with an extra set of wheels for roading, and of course the mtb which will soon be SS and then rigid.
Most recently been jonesin' for a bmx with pegs, and bars I can spin.

Hey, nice to put the name to the face (and bike). It so funny that we know everyone by what they ride. I often think that people I know could walk right by me, and I wouldn't notice without seeing their bike. Well now I know you. I know you very well, whahahahah!
Big fan of the bike by the way.
In other news:
I received $200 of the $350 owed to me by the guy that ran me over (he's paying the rest in a week or two). Cold hard cash baby! And everyone thought I was screwed. Over the last couple of days I took my two phuked wheels, and trued them back to 75% perfection. Good enough until they pooch out. It took forever. It's bad for the ego, rebuilding screwed up wheels. The whole time I was thinking "Oh man, I've lost my edge. I don't know how to build/true wheels at all". I had to keep telling myself that the mechanic said they were beyond repair, so any resemblance to a functioning wheel was a miracle. I'm good for now, until I figure out what I want to do for wheels.

As a chef I would love to claim I only eat good food. But every now and then KFC sounds so good. Never tastes good though. Tacos and Choc pie tonight. And some I deal coffee. Am happy now.
If I'd known then what I know now, I never would have sold my Wicked for what I did, assuming he gets asking price
