I'll be hangin' with my ladies after work being Valentine's Day and all. Espresso martini, damn THAT sounds interesting, my wife fell in love with frozen lichie (sp?) martinis when she went to NYC.

yeah I can't wait to try it:
1 1/2 Oz. Espresso
1 1/2 Oz. Vodka
1 1/2 Oz. Kahlua
Pour ingredients over rocks. Espresso first, then liquor. Chill and strain into large martini glass.
I can see myself using 2 oz vodka and 1 oz kahlua though because I'm not a big kahlua fan. Offer is still open to any of you single people out there!

I might be up for that. I'm going to my grandparent's for dinner (yeah everyone that says **** valentine's day's got nothing on me) so depending when I get back I might be down.
I took today off work for reasons other than the weather (doctor's appointment, family related things) but I guess no one will believe me now :)

If you haven't already bought the vodka, a friend of mine pointed me to a new Canadian brand called Iceberg. It is really really nice and very very very smooth; triple distilled but not the price of Grey Goose or Chopin because it is made here. I think it is the same price as Smirnoff or Absolute. The marketing for it is terrible (their website is entirely Flash) and the bottle looks very plain but I won't buy that expensive stuff ever again.
And yeah, the ride today was much better than I thought it would be. Much warmer than yesterday (I think Tuesday was the coldest wind I have ever felt!) and the cars were very nice, as TJ already pointed out. I only had one close call and it was my arch-nemesis, the white worker van. One day my friend, one day I will catch up to you!

You too!? *shakes fist in air*
It seems that my optimism for opening today was misplaced. No-one is coming in so I think I will go play in the snow. *checks I-Pod for Simon and Garfunkles "Slip Sliding Away"*
Hasn't iceberg been around for a while?
I'm partial to Finlandia, which also happens to be very cheap.

I'm working from home today but I have to hit the CO-LO.
It's walking distance. So I'll be walking. *weak*
I really want to hit this snow action.
Jarvis looks like a ultra wide luge(sp?) track for cars.
The only thing stopping me from going out is my inverted knobbies.
These tires (specialized hemispheres) pick up snow like kids in a snowball fight.
They make my apartment a salty swimming pool when I get home.
Slicks FTW!

I always pick up a big bottle of Smirnoff blue label when I go through duty free. 100 proof baby! Doesn't taste bad either. I only have grey goose if other people are buying. Because, seriously, its just vodka.

I'd never heard of it until my friend talked about it so it may be just new to me.
And yeah, I'd never figured that there was a diff between the any of the usual vodkas until I tried Grey Goose. It is just really smooth and if I am drinking it, I prefer to have it on the rocks as it is just that nice. Iceberg is like Grey Goose but much cheaper. I guess the triple distilled thing works? Or maybe it just works for me as I hate getting hangovers and that is why I first started drinking vodka in the first place, avoiding hangovers. I sound like a drunk :)

Forget the Vodka, bring on the Tequila!
1800 is the best.
No other tequila can even test.
Speaking of Grey Goose..
Check out this Demo by Nirvana 1989

I dunno if there is really anything behind triple distilled being better, but Smirnoff is triple distilled as well. Here is an article about vodka tasting that rates iceberg as the best:

Heheh, as a former bartender, I can say that you are the type of customer we love the most; knows what they want and just looking to get hammered, not talk to you about their life and/or problems.

Neither do the ones that talk your ear off ;) They feel that because you are now "best buds" it would be an insult to tarnish that friendship with a monetary tip.

first day of training for (one of) my new jobs... had to be there for 8, but i didn't leave myself any extra time so i was late. whoops! as soon as i crossed the street i realised that i was gonna have a hard time, cuz i took the mtb. i just couldn't get any traction on the clumpy snow and was swearving all over the place, so i ended up having to take to the sidewalks. then i had to jump off and run across the snow drifts at every intersection. lots of stares from the peds. a few times i waved for cars to go ahead and got some friendly waves in return, which was nice. i'd forgotten to put my balaclava and neck warmer in the dryer last night so my face was cold, but the rest of my was warm from the effort of dragging that tank-of-a-bike through the snow!

Hey! I think I saw you, are you the guy with the beard and the red touque? You were on the sidewalk near Queen/Ossington on a gnarly (the good kind of gnarly) Kona.

Will have to pass on the ride tonight. My wife might not be too thrilled with me bailing on Valentines. To me it's just another Halmark holiday, but I don't want to give up sex for the next month by biking tonight instead of watching a romantic movie. Woo hoo. Brigit Jones Diaries. Somebody shoot me.

North York up to Warden and 7, much faster than I expected... everything was plowed or almost plowed by seven thirty when I left. Only a few stretches were snowy.
I did have to walk the bike through three deep-slush intersections where right-turning trucks pull the snowbanks down onto the road.
Odd thing was I talked briefly with another guy I saw commuting. First time I've seen anyone riding in these parts since December and it was on the heaviest snow day of the year. Odd.

Who sucked you into it Rob?
Yep, pretty hairy out there today!
Went out on College and back on Dumbass...both about the same conditions wise. Might as well take the whole lane 'cause you have to ride so close to the tracks nobody can pass anyhow. On the plus side, as others have said nobody seems to be too upset about it either (wonder how much that will change come rush hour) Had to put my foot down a couple times, but no crashes. :)
My new fenders work very well so I'm happy bout that. If I'm gonna keep riding in this crap I should definitely get a front derailleur that will let me have a granny gear, or at the very least put a lower range cassette on the back. 38X21 is my lowest gear and that was pushing it through a couple tough spots.

Yea, this new moving-the-ball/fast breaking strategy has really worked out for them this year. Bosh is, is, I don;t even have a word for how good he is this year. WAs it last month...team of the month, player of the month(Bosh) AND rookie of the month. When has one team gotten all three? I should see if I can get some seats from work.

wow, what a ride today, on the weekend I replaced my knobbies with some 23c slicks, much better, even in the snow.
I took Dundas and had to take the lane, drivers actually seemed to be pretty considerate.
I had a nice fall on the way home, hit a rough spot and started violently sliding side to side and lost it, there was a big gap in the traffic though so I had plenty of time to get up and brush myself off. :D

Charley, I don't know if your ride/soiree got off the ground, but if so, sorry I couldn't make it.
I'm so proud. Today I finished my seatpost polishing project. After sanding off the black paint, I turned a scratched up (from sanding the paint off :) ) cloudy-looking seatpost into a mirror-finished shiny piece of awesomeness. You can *literally* see your reflection in it! I tried to take a picture but I think it would take daylight to really show how shiny it is. Plus I'm guessing no one really cares. It's a seatpost. The novelty will probably wear off anyway.

I think it is a track crank. If the guy has the money to have a custom made C-dale track bike with a Hed disc on the back and Spinergy front, he can probably afford to get a real track crank. Sweet looking bike but the flames kinda ruin it for me.
edit: I stand corrected, here is the latest Dura Ace track crank from the Shimano site:

Duppy, as for us doing better, yo we totally could be, but after soooo many years of not being able to admit you like ball because your city sucks so bad at it, I'm very pleased with this year's team. Even if we get punked from the playoffs.
Niiice ride in this morning, caught a 5-ton going down Yogne up by Front and had it suck me last couple blocks to the office, once I was in a good drafting position, I didn't have to pedal once.
