Well that was a fun ride today. I should have worn contacts, my glasses were fogged and covered with snow about 5 feet into the ride. Couldn't see the crack in the road and had a nice spill. Snow is nice and soft, almost like falling into a big pillow. I was more upset that I spilled my coffee though, freshly ground Ideal this morning all over the road. What a waste.

The roads were better than I expected. The snow was so wet it got compacted into a big hard wet white sheet on the road that my knobbie tires gripped the sh*t out of. Uncompacted snow was even better; tons of grip and no slipping. I almost washed out turning while pedaling through a pile of slush though. That would be been so gross...

i'm still trying to come up the the perfect on-a-bike coffee carrying system. so far a handlebar mount thing seems to be the best, although i usually just end up sticking a take-out cup in my bottle holder. something rigged to a basket might work...
I have one of these kicking around in a box somewhere:
http://www.ukcar.com/road_tests/saab/SAAB.9-5.AERO/small/SAAB.9-5.AERO.CUP.HOLDER.JPG
It folds away and doesn't take up much space. I was thinking of attaching it to my milk crate but I'm not sure if it will be secure enough for a bike (also I'd have to make sure there's enough heel clearance)

what about mounting it on the handlebars or behind the saddle?

If anyone's interested in going to the Outdoor Adventure Show this weekend, I have some free passes

I'm thinking behind the saddle, mounted to the milk crate. It folds away into a small space so it wouldn't affect my cargo capacity too much. It mounts with two screws- one above and one below the cupholder in a vertical line. So... the inside of my milk crate would nicely simulate the backside of the dashboard it was meant to be attached to.

Theoretically I could just reach slightly behind me to grab the coffee.

I'd think the best spot would be right at the point where the stem and the headset meet. You could slide some sort of bracket over the steerer (assuming threadless) and then pop the stem on top and tighten into place.
I used to commute with a stainless steel coffee cup and whenever I hit bumpy bits, I would put the cup up against the stem as it seemed to go through the least amount of turbulence.

I think that's probably the most stable place, and even if you have a threaded fork you could add another locknut to hold it in place (assuming there's enough threads left)
I think you'd have to make it so it turns with the stem, and also so it doesn't interfere with Knees or brake cables.

Do you know if they sell tents at a discounted rate? I already know what I want I just want to see if I can beat MEC's price (for a big agnes seedhouse 3 SL). Thanks for the offer regardless.

Just grabbed a pair of RipZone Trilogy Gloves 20,000mm waterproof with 100gThinsulate. The entirety of the outer thumb panel is goggle wiper. All set for years to come...as well as possibly boarding Blue at Spring Break with the kids. My fingers will love me again.
Hydra-pak filled with hot coffee?

Vendor turnout is frankly pretty weak. Tent city is there as is Europe bound, trailhead and a few others. The floor plan shows most of the major vendors. It's turned into more of an information show, really. Although the hanggliding simulation is kind of neat.

A friend just asked me to do a photoshoot for an article he's writing. Telling me I'd be perfect for it. I say ok, since I like to support friends, and then ask what the article is about. "a new hair cream for guys with thinning hair. You'll be perfect". Ouch!!

my first day as a messenger i wake up to thunder and lightning, all the power in my neighborhood is out, snow falling from the sky shaped like pancakes, a little rain, and some serious wind for the ride home. It was one of the best days of my life! thanks again for the recommendation dan!

Daaaaamn it's windy out. I just went west on Bloor, and struggled all the way. I do look forward to the ride back, but with the gusts being so unpredictable, and me being a little tipsy, it could be quite the adventure.

GPS coordinates? I'll call in a cruise missile strike or two. Or if you're feeling lucky tactical nuke would work as well. On that note, resident evil 2 shows Toronto city hall getting destroyed by one.

I found out this morning my wife and I miscommunicated and she is going to be out tomorrow night as well , so I'm not sure if I'll even be going. (I feel weird being out while she's out as well and the kids' are at home...old enough to be by themselves together, but still feel odd...you know?) All is up in the air, and wave 'em like you just don't care.
