I MAY have up to six passes for the bike show, I'll let you know later. Interested? A Kensington Market Breakfast smack down will commence at moonbeam.

ok so assuming you score 6 passes and exclude one for yourself = 5 passes.

people who have expressed interest to go..so far:

3.somnambulant
4.Shiznaz
5.Operator
6.sr20det
7.eyefloater

Who is a representative of said Ice Races....a bug has been planted within the marketing dept @ Red Bull...they definitely sound interested but I DONOT wish to step on any organizer toes.... Everyone I spoke to at the race said oh yea great, but honestly I don;t think they thought it could/would actually happen. Between my wife and I we have some pretty cool marketing /promotional connections.
Talk to Derek at The Bike Joint. He is the one who prints up the flyers and gets the permit for the ice.

Cool I will go see him as .."unoffically" Red Bull was "Hell yea we like it....that's the ****"... I don't want to push any race org members out of the way or anything. I'm a retired messer and bringing some of the crazy world of messing to the real world has always been something I wanted to do. How does Ice Races at Maple Leaf Gardens sound?

Lads ... I have in my hand FOUR passes. That's a 50/50 split, how you guys wanna do it I don't know.

Now the biggest question as of yet unanswered.... Is the food good there (Moon Bean), and what time? I don't feel the need to be there as the doors open myself but if you guys all want your passes early I can be there. I have two kids so waking up in the morning is no longer the problem it used to be. lol

J...you're a good sport. That's FOUR PASSES kids.

i'm ungainfully employed so i'll pass on the passes as well. not sure if i'll be doing this solo or with the girlfriend. if it's the former, i'll be supplying the requisite bbq pork buns. i can also double somebody up on the locking issue too if necessary (will be bringing a krypto-molly and onguard-mini.)

Moonbean has some food, but I've not eaten there-it's more or less a cafe. For me, the caffiene fix is sufficient to draw take me there.

As for the pass, I'm workin' for the man as well, so give it to one of the students. Thanks for the offer.

thanks for the generous ticket offer but i'm not 100% sure I will be able to make it.
it all depends on how long my lunch on sunday takes.

If theres no extra free tickets available I'd be happy to buy one myself... I may be a student and artsy and lazy but I'm not especially broke. Plus there is a chance my girlfriend may come, but probably not. I am meeting with Bike-o-phile at the show to pick up some bits for my wheels so I will essentially be going whenever he is (although he said he will be there on both saturday and sunday). I'll go ahead and put my vote in for meeting at moon bean at 11:30am, just because it seems 'proper'

PS. bake, bean and bake. and then bake again!

Hey don’t get me wrong free works for me, let’s just see who shows up & go from there. Time wise i say 11:00ish time for a coffee & get to the show around or just before 12:00 that's my vote. Still a few days before, so we'll see.
Cheers

Have fun guys. My plane doesn't get back 'til about 1 (read 2:30 by the time I get out of the terminal) so I'll miss most of the joy. Just as well as I need to cull, not add, my cycling pile.

I was thinking 12:00, but 11:00 works as well. And if anyone wants to get together earlier for some greasy breakfast, let me know. It doesn't even have to be in Kensington... "have bike, will travel". :)

I have a couple places I like, but none of them are very centrally located, so if anyone else has a suggestion, let it fly.

Oh.. and to quote Jeremy:

thanks. some good has to come from this boring job.

Damn fscking right, brother! :) I'll also pass on the free ticket if a student needs one. If we wind up with a surplus we can always do the math and split the cost of the remainder of tickets that need to be bought between us workin' stiffs.

I'm not that choosy anymore. As long as you don't play bass and you know enough musicians to form some sort of casual-jamming-group, I'm happy. :)

I ran into Franek (sp) again this morning, and was riding with a bass on his back.. so it made me realize that perhaps I could use one social-niche to tap into another. :P

another in my "I hate other cyclists" series: I was riding home and some dude on a fix was riding super slowly in the bike lane on Hoskin Ave in U of T. I get a chance to pass him, so I do. Then he rides proceeds to ride right on my ass for like 2km getting a free ride into the headwind. What a dink.

ditto on the sugoi toque from urbane. And I also have one of those fleece "neck warmer" tubey things from MEC. I like that because it keeps the draft off my neck, and I can also pull it up around my mouth if the beard-insulation-factor is too low. :)

Also, I can't remember the colour of the bike. Black maybe? The guy was wearing one of those backpacks with the roll down top. Oh, and I have a black/dark grey/light grey timbuk2 bag, so if you were on my ass maybe you'd remember that. :)
