I discoverd that once you bring the bike inside the nanotech killer mud quickly reverts back to goopy form and makes a big pile of crap under your bike. I rode back to the car wash and hosed it off. :)

2005 2006 models were not. Don't know about 2007 but I would assume it is not as well.

Is the fork that comes with the track pro drillable? or would that compromise it's strength too much.

I got the MTB out today as well, didn’t think it would be that muddy as it was freezing & full on snowing(well flurries & wind)but it was a bit muddy result me & bike very dirty fun fun except the frozen cold toe's.
Nice change from the rollers.

I can't wait for the next alleycat, my knee is slowly getting better and I might have the new bike to ride it on WOOT. As well more, and hopefully better, helmet cam footage.

It is carbon-fibre, right? So yeah, theoretically, it is drillable but I personally wouldn't drill CF as you might really mess up the integrity of the fork.

Not royalty free music, music that you have the rights to give permission for use for. I make videos and am trying to get away from using commercialized music from the labels and starting to use independent artists from whom I have permission to use their music. I can't give you exactly what it would be used for, but likely a biking or skateboarding video, you'd be credited but probably not paid. Unless, of course, the video went huge or something.

Today's Tip

Don't Muddle The Puddle - When riding in muddy conditions be careful at puddles. It may seem fun to blast through. But it's never a good idea because you can't be sure what's at the bottom. If there's a hole there, you'll end up doing a sweet Superman imitation and sail over the bars when your front wheel gets stopped cold. This will entertain your ride partners immensely but it can be quite painful and could wreck the fork and frame if you're really unlucky. Our recommendation? Slow way down and try to gauge how deep it is. If you decide it's safe to ride through the middle, get your weight back and off the front wheel. Or, if it looks deep, try skirting the edge of the puddle so you know you're passing over solid ground. Or, if the puddle is pond like, get off and walk around. The goal is to pass safely and to not widen or damage the trail, too.

I wouldn't. Its one thing to drill a steel fork...carbon is asking for trouble IMHO.

The CMWC won't include the HPR. It was discussed briefly with a guest at one meeting but is not plausible, the CMWC itself is such a large event. The organization(TOBMA) putting on the CMWC intends to make a splash with CMWC though and would be able to consider how to bring back Johnny Jetfuels wondrous invention after CMWC, though it would take a year to organize by my estimation.

The CMWC is going to be mainly on Toronto Island, June (Friday)13-16 2008. The Island portion is Sat & Sunday, many many events and attractions. Our venue on the island is huge, beautiful and well suited to what we need. Fairly well everything west of the lighthouse.

It remains to be seen if there will be an HPR at the 2008 champs. If the organizers can come up with a big enough sponsor willing to foot the bill then it will. *edit* never mind.
I was fortunate enough to ride/race that every time they built it. I can say without reservation that it is just about the most fun you will have on a bicycle.

We'd love to, but our budget needs are already tremendous without the HPR($250,000?) and all of it's considerations. Seperately, after CMWC, we could probably pull it off.

i ended up at that event after the hallowe'en critical mass. i hadn't been in the city long, and was still underage, so i was rather impressed to say the least. then i ended up at an after-party concert by which time my distracted (and probably tipsy) self neglected to lock up a sweet vintage raleigh frame outside the elmo, which was never to be seen again. so fun, so sad.

As long as they're not driving to the Beach in their SUV then riding on the sidewalk, I'm happy. Anything that gets more people driving their bikes is good. :D And no, I haven't pre-ordered one.

when i said i knew it would snow in april i didn't mean snow for three days and counting!!

i've only left the house once since wednesday, and that was to go about 2 blocks to a friend's house.

i'd suck it up and put some warmers in my shoes to go for a ride, but (at the risk of whining) my neck hurts too darned much and i just don't have the desire to torture myself at the moment. being unbelievably unsafe doesn't help. instead i've taken to doing some mending (which is productive, but probably not great for my neck) and pacing around the apartment.

Hey everyone, my friend needs to find an apartment by May 1st, he was thinking about the kensington market area, but he says anything in that area or UofT area would be nice. Loft would be good, he said his max is 700-800 a month, not big on room mates but is flexible, if anyone has some tips or suggestions to help him out that would be great.

If I found a loft in Kensington for $700 a month I would be living in Kensington. But good apts can be found in that price. Our 2 bedroom is $720. East Side Boyee!!!

Get him to check Viewit.ca. For $700 bones around the university, he'd be pretty much stuck with rooming house kind of situation unless he wants to live in a basement but there are a few options out there. There's a fair bit of stuff on viewit, depending on what he's looking for in terms of size. Bang for buck is better on the East side (repeat TJ's gang sign here).
The area just north of the Danforth up Broadview has quite a few apartment buildings where he can get a place for around $800 or slightly above that, but there's a fair bit around. Given that the University students will be moving out soon, he may be able to swing a better deal from a landlord that may be losing some tenants, maybe a free month or something. Never hurts to ask.

Ok I am in need of advice... I just got my hands on a late 80's-ish frame + threaded fork that is in good condition but needs to be stripped and painted. It came with the original headset and BB intacted in good condition. If I'm gonna pull it apart to paint it properly should I be trying to keep the original BB and headset to be repacked or should I just replace them with modern stuff? How concerned do I need to be about threading and all that fun stuff?

Also - any suggestions on where I should be hunting for parts for the build?
