To that effect if anyone has a loaner front 700c wheel I could use until my hub can get relaced to a new rim I would be forever in your debt.

I've got an Shimano R500 front wheel. No rubber on it, but the wheel is yours for as long as you need it. PM me if you want.

are you an attourney? it would be helpful to have a legal adviser among us; especially in light of the latest round of collisions.

I'm not sure if I'm an attourney, but I am a lawyer. :)

Actually, for the next two months I am still an articling student. As such, I am not insured and cannot actually offer legal advice. However, I certainly can suggest things that I'd personally do.

The only good thing about being a lawyer is that you can scream out case names at people, even if they do not apply, and people get scared!

hey eyefloater or anyone that works in a bike shop: Do you have the shimano BB-ES51 bottom brackets for 68mm shell with octalink and 118 spindle length? I want to know whether I can find one to go with the Deore LX triple trekking cranks being offered for 47.50USD on Nashbar.

Or if anyone knows any other good cheap and available triples for touring I'm all ears. Thanks

I have a new BB-ES51...68mm...118...but somehow the left cup is missing. If you can find a left cup (any octalink left hand cup will do) you can have it for $20.

sweet. I'm in. I'm going to bring you my bike in a couple weeks for some final conversion work and tuning before my trip if you've got room on your plate. I'll need you to basically change the drivetrain and do some fine tuning with the brakes, shifters and wheels.

The octalinks use the same cups as the other shimano cartridge bbs? (e.g the plastic ones?)

Shiznaz those are a pretty good deal, probably won't be able to find anything better online.

cam, it turns out my order was put on hold due to billing info. I've sorted it out now so hopefully those sandals are now on the way.

Good stuff. I'm liking mine so far. They seem a more solid fit than the lakes and are definitely stiffer. I keep forgetting you actually have to think about unclipping with them for the first few times as they're not as tight on your feet as shoes. Pyze, they were 48.99 USD including shipping. I'm debating getting a second pair while they're on sale.

i like the sugino triples (http://sheldonbrown.com/harris/cranks/11074.html) because they use a square taper BB and seem simple enough that they won't break down. plus they use standard ring sizes (110 outer, 74 inner). cheap ones are 60 bones US but you may be able to find them cheaper. made in japan too.

I just used mountain bike triple. For loaded touring, a top ring around 44-46 would have been fine. I slapped a bigass 52 on there and rarely used it unless the bike was unloaded.

I need to get triplicates of all on-bike tools etc so I don't ever leave home without **** for lazy reasons again. I knew going for a ride without tire repair dingdongs would guarantee that I would need them, but alas...

I really enjoyed taking the subway after dark in full roadie gear, I swears.

I had a Torts prof who used to say, "when you're at a cocktail party and someone won't stop asking you questions about his legal issues, just yell 'res ipsa loquitur' and walk away."

Of course, he never practiced a day in his life, cloistered academic as he was, so I figured he was pretty much full of $%^*. Easy to talk the talk when you've never even stepped foot in a courtroom.

That's mine but I don't think I ever posted a pic of it. Someone here has the same one as a fixie, maybe that is the one you are thinking of? I was going to slap some gears on it for fun but then I purchased the Razesa so I made it a fixed conversion with an extra set of track wheels that I had but it just wasn't the same as a track bike so I am selling it now. Great bike but I just don't need it.

If anyone here is interested, let me know and we can work something out.

I already got some installed on the bike. I don't think my crank puller would work with the oversize hollow spindles anyways, unless I stuck a dime in there or something. I have done that with an isis bb/crank and it sucks.

You just need a plug to insert in the spindle for use of a regular crank puller. Some aftermarket Q.R's have a nut that works well for this. The "proper" sh1tmano one can be had for a couple bucks.
