Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Now if only they would deal with the wheel sucking slip magnets that criss cross hundreds of kilometers of our streets. Oh wait.

Another wonderful story about being a Toronto cyclist...Caught on tape! (http://www.citynews.ca/news/news_10783.aspx)
not only does it appear that no one stopped (i.e., to be a witness, save for the students), but at 33secs of the unedited version, there is a TD bank security guard (in yellow, in the building) apparently just watching cross-armed following the assault (seemingly not even trying to call police).

I saw that when I watched the full clip on the news last night.. unedited clip is here:

It's sad that so many people just walked by, but I'm not surprised any more.. I went to court last year after witnessing a cabbie dooring a cyclist (who was riding in front of me).. the guy went down into traffic, with his head inches away from an 18 wheeler. It was at a busy intersection (Bay/Dundas) and no other driver/pedestrian stuck around to give their account.

I seem to remember someone talking about looking for new shoes, but I could be making that up. Anyway, according to Nashbar's latest spam they're having a one day shoe sale. http://www.nashbar.com/results.cfm?storetype=estore&estoreid=892&browse=all&cm_re=C1-_-biggie-_-OneDayShoe

The apathy of the general population in and around the downtown core especially on public transportation is incredible. You could be getting shots, stabbed, assaulted, robbed, fellated right next to someone on a packed subway car or on a platform and you'd be lucky if anyone does anything or even notices.
Even if you're surrounded by people you can never count on anyone to help you or even notice you are in trouble. Rely on yourself, any external help is an extra bonus.

I just learned the butterfly soul razor technique last week and I've been itching to get in a cyclist/motorist altercation to test it out.

Let me know if you hear anything from Sidi, I checked out their site, but I couldn't find any technical stuff. The model is the Zeta.

LordFoo,

Nothing much. The two parties ended up agreeing on a "reduced charge" (a fine, but no points) before anyone went before the court. The cyclist didn't want to drag the thing out + cost the guy his job -- I think he was happy enough that there would be a mark on the guy's record? I don't know if I would have been as "generous", but I didn't have much say as a witness.

FYI
I have just been told @ work that the assailant in the motorist extracting a cyclists' tooth video was in fact off duty officer, all upset because the cyclist didn't feel like burning through the amber light.

The reason he's on leave is what I'm after...after seeing himself on the news and knowing his plate had been sussed, he'd have been a bigger moron to not turn himself in. I'll bet even money he was speaking to his "brothers" after this happened.

I couldn't find that out, but if you google him, he has an Accomedation from the force for something or other.
I never ride that way, but last night I went to see Mike at Cycle Therapy. and I TOTALLY stop at yellow lights. I'm a nerd.
