Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I just got screwed in the dentistry ass to the tune of a $1000 estimate (crown for a broken tooth). Can anyone recommend a good dentist that has reduced rates for uninsured patients or at least decent payment plans?
Danforth Neighbourhood Dental Clinic is really good. At least worth checking into it. http://www.dndc.ca/

Anyone see the Soprano's last night?
Yeah.. still not sure how I feel about the ending.. don't want to spoil anything though.
Also - re DS browsing and M3 -- I think it's possible if you're some kind of freak with both slot1 and slot2 "solutions" (i.e. M3 simply + M3 lite), but probably cheaper just to buy the official browser. I haven't had the urge to do so due to related comments on screen size, etc.
M3+SNES emulator + Super Keirin FTW? :) I tried loading up the rom but can't read japanese.. need a translation :>

When looking at buying new disc routers for disc brakes, what's the difference between say 200mm ones versus 160mm (other than 40mm)? My buddy is buying a new set of wheels to put 'road' type tires on his mountain bike, with a more appropriate cassette for road riding.
I found some good wheels but they don't come with the routers. So I'm looking at different ones, and MEC has 203mm for $35 each, but 160mm are only $15.
Any insight?

Why, when I can have a low life short order cook do it? Especially when you factor in the dropout waitress clearing my dishes and the loser in the kitchen washing them.
Wow, you're still here. Seems the idiot customers remarks hit a nerve. I'd put you on ignore, but your posts are so lame they can be funny at times. Keep up the good work.

Hey folks - I was working on a few parts bin conversions over the weekend and came across some parts I'm not going to use and will likely sell but have no idea what make they are (the cranks) or what they're worth (the wheel) so...
Does anyone know what brand these cranks are?

Does anyone know what a tubular wheel like this would be worth, realistically? The thing is light beyond belief... I know the Araya's a fairly well sought after and it's got bladed spokes laced to a Mavic 571 hub... Any ideas? Any takers?

I rode the Zipp's this weekend (though, they are actually Hed's.). They are a damn fast wheels, but boy do you feel the bumps. Going over subway tracks was pretty jarring.
I've switched back to my normal wheels. The Hed's are fun, but they aren't every day wheels. They did look cool though, which is the most important thing.

No I think it was being spoon-fed a warped sense of entitlement that allows him to think of and treat ppl that way. Or he's just trolling for reactions. A game of bumper catch might help him appreciate life and the people around him a bit more.

I think he buys bikes from Police Auctions up north or something, they are always junky Supercycles or Magnas that he shines up nicely and sells for a couple hundred bucks to people who want summer rides. At least, that is what they were when I rode by lasts week.
I don't think he sells much of the higher end stuff like he used to. That may be because they were less popular or because maybe they were more stand-outish, so the real owners might recover them. I mean, if you own a Pinarello, you will likely have the serial number written down somewhere and a description of it but how many Supercycle owners go to the trouble?

Back in the day there was a white van (nondescript kidnap special) that would come to town twice a year and rip off free locked messenger rides from MTL to bring them here, and vice versa..... never did figure out who it was, but there are theories. My bud came out of the stock exchange tower just in time to see a guy literally throw it into the van and jet off. They'd stick around for two weeks in the spring and the fall and then vanish.

No... it happened twice a year, for at least three of the six years I was messin'. Sneaky and organized.
Messers talk and a white van would do rides from here as well, to be sold in MTL apparently.

Congratulations!!! Scavenger hunt’s are always fun. Hi do you have any rubber chickens?
thanks; i did it for the glory, obviously. this hunt gathers answers to questions like "if you can find the gates to old fort york just off of fort york blvd, what was the year that British troops were no longer garrisoned?" (actually, that question was the clincher cuz no one else got it right.)
i even assisted two nice greek gentlemen with a broken ice cream truck by helping them make a call on my cell phone... no time for a cone during a race; i oughta go back to get my due.
ps. the chalk on the i-steal place has been there a few weeks at least

Nashbar stuff is cheaper but generally OK quality. The stuff is made for them by someone else with the Nashbar label slapped on. For instance, I think that Tektro is the OEM for the Nashbar in-line brake levers.

I know, I know, it is soooooooo tempting at $350 but I already have my 60cm Ciocc. But damn, a rose coloured Pini! With SLX tubes! That would be so kickass. There is a thread in C&V about the exact same bike but in a smaller size, check it out, there are lots of photos:

Damn that Pinarello is nice! I was at Biseagal the other day and there was an NOS late 80's Colnago that some guy brought in to get checked out. It was white with red etching and had a full NOS C-Record Group on it. Easily my favourite road bike to date in terms of beauty/desiretoridethehelloutofit-ness. Apparently the same guy also has a late 80's Eddy Merckx and 3(!) Colnago C40s!!!! Man I hate that guy! :D

i think i would agree. it appears these guys are cut from the same cloth as the skateboarding crowd; that is, they sit around watching each other do tricks instead or riding. i prefer challanges like sprinting like mad or climbing until i can feel my lungs explode.

okay gentlemen: it's been a long time since the lot of us went out and ripped through the city in warm weather at night time. what happened to those CV rides of yore?
I have a few days off this week and the wife is out of town so here's what i'm thinking: I'm going out for a night ride tomorrow evening, let's say 8:30, meet in the honest ed's parking lot like we used to. bring beer or appropriate beverages for mid/post ride libations. route to be determined based on mood and general consensus. who's interested? well just show up, i'll be there.

I hear what you're saying. But personally, much like the old skate vids, they inspire me to have even more fun on my bike. I could care less about the MASH-factor - Sorry Toby ;) - I just want to have fun on my bike - whatever kind of bike. And, since I started learning tricks I find that I'm way more confident on my fix. For instance, on my way home yesterday I was bookin' to catch Amber before she headed off to school. Just before Jarvis on College a car makes a fast lane change from the curb lane to the turn lane so I busted out an evasive skid and actually skidded completely around the front of the car and back into my lane. It was very satisfying. :)
That said, I'm still totally stoked for some sprints - **coughUNWINcough** - and any races. And as for video, I really wanted to teach myself non-linear video editing this summer and fig'd the best way to practice was to shoot some people having fun on bikes. I'll post when I've set something up if anyone's down.
