Yes, I put the extra hand in the freezer, never know when I might need it. The levers are relatively jit proof as they're 2004 and so can be retrofitted to 10 speed. Not as bling as buying 10 speed new from the store, but I've never been one to feel the need for bling. I prefer to use my cash for other things...

The pinarello build is almost complete... rear derailleur is in the mail, front is closing on ebay, and if I can get the Chris King headset without someone sniping me, I'll be pretty much set.

My roommate is getting new wheels for his mountain bike to make them more road worthy. If I put a road cassette on (12-24 or something) is that going to cause huge problems with either his derailer or chain since he currently has an 11-32?

He wants to be able to switch the wheels depending upon whether he is going off road or on.

I have an 11-23 on my "city" bike which is an old mountain bike without any problems. He might have to tweak the rear derailleur a bit when swapping wheels but no big deal.

You should be able to buy one without splicing it yourself, Active surplus probably has them. How many drives do you have in there? I've got 2 drives, a DVD, CD and floppy drive powered in my box...

Problem solved. The guy I got it from has a cable for me... he just forgot to give it to me. For now I just stole the power from my floppy drive, I don't think I'll be needing that anytime soon. :)

Check at Cycle Therapy and/or Velotique. They both have rental libraries.

I'm pretty sure there are some web designer types on here - since you just said so. Not sure if any of you are looking for such work, but we're currently hiring:

http://www.muchmusic.com/aboutus/cooljobs/

I'd prefer to stay away from using any sort of head hunter types so I'm digging through resumes. If you have one, fit the bill and are interested, I'd love to get you in for an interview.

Being a bike fan is a definite plus as you'll be interviewed by myself and Fuzzz :D

Well, if anyone sees a mid-30s white dude in black jeans/t-shirt/ball cap on a bright red Lemond Tourmalet road bike, looking generically sketchy and not exactly in roadie scum attire please call the cops and us here at the shop (416) 778-6473. The bike is stolen and was seen heading west on Queen St. this morning (all the usual suspects and everyone I know at other shops has been contacted).

PS. He/they had the proper tools to cleanly remove multiple locks from multiple doors. Yay.

I'll be up at the memorial ride at 7:30 tonight. Some more information on the man who was killed:

The cyclist who died on Bayview was apparently an avid cyclist, always wore a helmet, and a strong advocate for safe cycling He had planned a bike safety course for his colleagues at Sanofi for next week. His funeral was this morning, and the chief police commisioner attended along with many police officers, as his wife is a police officer. One of his 4 children wrote a song for her Dad and sang it at the funeral.

He was apparently run over by the wheels of the trailer of the dump truck, which was carrying on going directly southbound just after coming off the 401. The driver didn't know about it until another motorist somehow drew their attention and they then stopped once they'd seen what had happened in the mirror.

If he is going to switch between road wheels and mtn wheels he will prolly have issues with the brakes.

I think they're both 26" wheels.. one with narrow tires and a road cassette, the other with fat tires and a mtn cassette. Would that still affect the brakes? I think there might have been a mention of running discs on both as well.

Yes, sorry, I meant I'll be at the memorial at 7:30... With experiences of the past, apart from the exceptionally large turnout for the ride for Ryan Charriere, it's typically a small group that just rides to the locale.

Anyone know of a nice downtown 2 bdrm place for about $1200 or less a month, preferably in this (http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=1051280) area?

1st floor of a house would be ideal.

It totally depends upon the rims. If they are the same then it might not be a prob. If the wheels use different width/profile rims then the brakes will almost certainly need to be tweaked between switches.

I might know of a $1200, I don'tknow the price actually, just that peace & quiet are required, no loud music, that sort of thing, and I'm not sure of how many bedrooms, but it's the first floor and the basement, so probably it's 2 bedroom

re-reading that it seems I have no information on the place I'm thinking of, but there is a first floor 2-bedroom on Christie just across the street from Fiesta Farms, ph# on the sign, it's in your price range most likely and is a cycling house, mud porch parking. Directly across from fiesta farms is kind of nice too

mmm... lovely morning for a long ride out of the city. Just got back from this morning's bike rally training ride. I haven't logged too many km's on the road bike this year because of all the mountain biking, so I wasn't sure how 97km would feel. Verdict: like buttah. I think all the road riding last year helped the mountain biking, and all the mountain biking so far this year has really helped my road riding. Good times.

Now to go wash off 3.5hrs worth of grime. :P

So sweep, by my estimation we did about 40km.

Felt like more but a good ride for sure it’s a nice stretch of road to ride, with the water front and all. Not many silly looking rodie's eather.

Excellent ride. Not too much traffic, cool breeze from the lake, the good life.
