How far are you willing to travel? English or Western? You just want to walk along trails right?

This place is out near my parents and it's OK

That is pretty damn hot but would look sooo much cool with subtler graphics. A black/white paint job with funky molecules and way fewer words would look pretty damn sharp.

Beyond that, isn't an aluminum track bike a little on the stiff side and not as comfortable to ride for long periods as something made out of steel? Just curious...

+1

Definitely infinitely better than the Cinelli graphics though...

Whoa that's nuts! I bet he can't reach the drops on that badboy! I think he should put some bullhorns on there that would look awesome/more in keeping with the whole pursuit geometry thing. Hell maybe even some aero bars. He could do circuits at the Ex or something. :D

I used to do lessons out Northwest somewhere... I think trafalgar road area. I'm not sure if they do trail rides too, but let me know if you'd rather head that way and I'll see if I can track down the name of the stables.

Bikes are more fun 'cause they don't think for themselves!

Apparently they literally just played on a street corner here in the city. Yesterday it was a Winnipeg city bus. I've seen thema few times and had the pleasure of working with them before and I can honestly say, whether you like the music or not, they're real musicians... as in about the actual music.

See you there chumly.

^^no silly^^ Jack White... his producing Loretta Lynn's comeback album netted her a Grammy...he's the real deal.

TORONTO -- Alt-rockers the White Stripes have surprised dozens of children with an impromptu rock show at a Toronto daycamp.

More than 65 children between the age of five and 12 sat in a semi-circle on the floor to catch a five-song set by bandmates Jack White and Meg White.

Fans who had heard about the show headed to the YMCA where the show was held after hearing about the concert by word of mouth, text messages and on websites.

Most were turned away by security, who said the concert was for the kids.

Two children were called forward by singer Jack White to sing songs of their choice; one small boy sang a part of the R&B song "I Believe I Can Fly."

A YMCA spokesperson says he thought it was a prank when the band's manager contacted him about the show.

No offense to Dan intended.

nerdsgirth: what, you think you can ride down my street in the middle of the lane no handed? pfft!

(either that or you've been cloned)

If by riding hands "no handed" you mean that my hand was going numb from marking grade 6 standardized tests by PDA in an airplane hanger while going crazy reading responses to two questions about a girl named Hanna who believes that the homeless have "warm hearts wrapped in rags" then you are correct. I wish I was riding. http://www.ladybugfoundation.ca/ wow! the story was actually non-fiction!

i believe i've seen them around at the shops that carry soma stuff (curbside, west side cycle on roncey etc). you can do the same thing with a handlebar mounted bottle holder. urbane has adapters, or rigging something up with hose clamps is always an option. i think the soma holders are about $20-30...

MSRP is actually $60 on the Soma dealie jobbie (?!) ... I had one for a bit last year and I found the sliding lid portion kept sliding open and violently ejecting hot tea all over my hands/bars while I was riding. Not fun, but I assume other travel mugs would fit in the thing. Makes it even less of a value though if you've got to toss the mug that comes with it.

It goes something like this:

http://www.stridemaps.com/maps/view/95

Careful at this time of year though, you can really get tearing through there and it's non-directional. The grass grows tall enough that there are some blind corners. Best to do it at off peak hours!

something like this, starting at pottery road:
http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=1112497

I can't really map it all properly using the satellite map because it's under tree cover, but that'll get you started. Basically, once you go over the little bridge off the paved trail you hang a right, and then like 20' up the gravel trail you'll see a path through the woods. Go in there and keep following it. Eventually you'll come to the railway (around 1km on my link), hang a right and keep following it north.

I hear there's a river trail in the Don that might (should?) be rideable for the cx bike. Can anyone Google Maps that bad boy for me so I know where to find it? Or ... if anyone ever wants to go on an easy ride and watch the new guy slap himself around, I'm game.

Edit: new shoes! YAY!

mike i know my way around that trail now and as it stands at the moment i only have a CX bike for riding off road, so if you want a tour guide at some time (during the week) let me know. actually, i'm going to be heading there shortly if you're interested.

Yeah that lower section is totally doable for a nice fast rolling ride. If you can make it out on a week day it should be a little less crowded...

for the record i just got back from a ride in the lower don on my cross bike. it is totally doable and fun-tastic! (just let some air out of your tires).

on another note, the "chorizo argentino" empanadas from the guy next to segovia meats in kensington are quite simply pure awsomeness wrapped in pastry. that is all.

Hey MTB peeps... has anyone ridden the newly re-opened porcupine ridge trails up in Bracebridge @ Santa's Village? My usual up north riding spot has OCup stuff there this weekend so it's not an option, but I keep hearing that Porcupine ridge is crazy super technical triple black diamond. Is it really that much more technical than the upper don, Albion, Kelso, etc.?
