Newly re-opened?

I went there maybe 5 years ago and it was pretty neat. Better with full suspension though! Also, fun to watch the DH guys basically drop from boulder to boulder.

yeah it was totally closed for a couple years due to insurance problems related to being located on Santa's Village property... just re-opened mid last year...

I think it is a shrew or vole, kinda like a weasel but with reddish eyes. In other words, a freaky thing to bump into late at night if you've had more than 3 beers.

There's an old southern American song (circa 1800's I believe) called "Carve that Possum", wherein the lyrics describe the entire process of catching and cooking a possum. I tried to find it online but I guess it's too archaic/steeped in colonial racial stereotypes to be easily found online.

Thanks for the birthday wishes dudes! Thanks for the ticket Ryan! Thanks for lunch Colin! Here's another sentence ending in an exclamation mark!

My first thought was small groundhog for sure.... but is that it's black furry tail to its left? groundhogs don't have tails like that. Possums have hairless tails I think. Lets see some urban guidebook schematics!

4:30a.m. to 8:00p.m. and i basically didn't sleep because i was paranoid about sleeping in.

white stripes was such a good show. too bad it seemed like some of the nickleback fans from the night before stuck around. who yells "go argos!" at an effing concert? sometimes i wonder if some bands/artists secretly hate some of their fans.

that makino went for $785. eff

Yikes! Yeah the meathead/jock/suburban jackass quotient at the White Stripes show was through the roof! It was like being in the American Eagle catalouge. *Shudder* Great show but yeah I couldn't wait to get out of there after. The ridiculous traffic jam getting out of the parking lot was sweet poetic justice in exchange for ignorant condescending remarks made about me riding a bike! Hurray!

Wow the Makino didn't even crack $800. There will be other deals to be had.

It's definitely not a possum as per the furry tail and it's too big for a vole or shrew, which are more or less mouse sized. Ground hogs don't have the big furry tail. I was thinking it may be an escaped or abandoned pet of some kind, like a largish chinchilla.

I'm of no help here on this little creature. Animals are classified (for me) as tasty or not tasty, and since I haven't had that before, don't know what it is. Looks like it falls in the not tasty category.

Hey guys, quick Cylco-cross question: will the wheels in the ad posted above work for a road bike? Specifically with 105 brakes. I ask because it seems that the machined surface is wider than the usual road bike rims that I have seen and I would be buying them for use on my Razesa which has some 105 brakes that I like and wouldn't consider switching.

Sorry, I should have said deeper...the machined area seems deeper and is perhaps not going to work with the brakes I already have.

they're 700c rims - even if they are slightly different from your current wheels you should be able to adjust your brakes to fit.

Anyone going out for the Global Gutz this year? I hear the race itself is this Friday the 13th, 21 km, easy navigation, a speed race. I'm not racing myself but I'm helping with the local fundraiser. We've collected a great list of prizes from local shops & businesses, not all of them are up on the website yet, they haven't put up my last round of additional prizes/sponsors, but that's how it goes with an all-volunteer army, it'll be updated soon.

You may remember last year we gave away a good chunk of stuff and managed to raise up enough cash to send 2 Toronto messengers to Sydney, Australia to compete for us at the CMWC? This year as you may know it's in Dublin, which comparably is right down the street! We've gotten more support form the local community and we hope to raise even more than last year, we're going to try to send 4-6 messengers to Dublin to represent T.O.

So buy buy buy our fundraiser tickets! There are great prizes, something for everyone,

some rather exclusive, like the jerseys from The Messengers International,

some just plain classics, like the Brooks B-17 from Cycle Therapy,

some are expensive!, like the Kona frame from Sweetpete's,

some are for lazy people, like the gift certificates for labour or tune ups from Bike Clinic,
or the gift certificates for free local deliver form The Messengers International,
or the gift certificates for labour/tune-up from SweetPete's

some are Tasty! like the Dinner for 2 from La Palette (local only)

some are toothbrushes, like the Oral-B electric toothbrush from United Smiles of Kensington!

some are heavy, like the Kryptonite NYC STD from The Bike Joint,
or the Krypto STD w/cable from Bike Clinic,

some are wearable, like the wind jacket & socks the Urbane Cycles,

some can be used to carry the others, like the 4-5 bags from Push & UTW,

some can be used as hubs, like the Formula Hub set from Cycle Therapy!

some make you faster, like the gift certificates for a Yoga Spin Class from Yo Spyngo,

some can be worn on the head, like the Hats from SweetPete's,

some are brake levers, like the Tektro brake levers from Cycle Therapy,

some can be exchanged for a much needed facial, like the gift cert. for a facial from Aesthetic Services
by Cidalia Lopes (local only)

some can convince a guy to build up your wheel for free(labour only), like the Free Wheel Build from Shannen at Bikes on Wheels (local only)

some will stylishly protect your toptube, like the top tube pad from UTW,

some can be worn like t-shirts, like th t-shirts from various sponsors,

and many more to come!

We'll be having a party, I believe it'll be July 22nd, at a location TBA to give out prizes, drink heartily and wish the messengers well on their way to Dublin to (hopefully) step on some necks and bring home the bacon, but definitely to have a good time. You do have to be a messenger to win a trip to Dublin, but everything else is up for grabs!

the link is in my sig, be sure to check back to see your odds increase as more prizes are added, right now we've got over $2200.00 in prizes with more on the way! more tickets = better odds!

Top o' the morning o ya!

Tell your friends, buy them tickets, this is open to everyone as is the race, the after party and the GG prize party a week later!
