This bike would be so nice if not for the sloping top tube. :(

Just puttin' this out there: if anyone's taking stuff to get painted in the near-ish future (aka: before winter) I'd like to sent along my Rob Roy frame set. Please get in touch.

For the shop people, does anyone sell schwalbe tires? I want to get these tires (http://schwalbetires.com/bike_tires/off_road/more_knobs/cx_pro_details), 26", or a comparable tire, again for 26" rims.

I just took my frame a couple of weeks back to get powdercoated and am now overdue to get it back. I guess that isn't very helpful. :(

Road ride around noon anyone?
Also, what's islington like north of the 407? Is there any nice riding up around the kortright center? I'm getting tired of the same old rides. Who's got some suggestions for fun rides?
Scenery>traffic. Preferably 100kms or so.
Heads up for anyone buying MEC tubes... I'd never had a problem before today but I just pulled one off my shelf and the valve was only 28mm long which isn't long enough to get through my moderate profiled wheels, much less them fancy deep-vees you guys are running. So check em before you buy em!
Looks like I'm on the patch kit today since that was my last new one!

Thanks for the heads up. Although, I'm pretty sure that MEC only started carrying the longer stemmed tubes - both Conti & their own brand... But I could be wrong, I often am. :)

I don't bother with the conti's at twice the price! I'm pretty sure I bought those ones in the spring...

thank dog Kona changed the paint job on their cross lineup.. This actually looks good! (http://www.bike2build.nl/morepics/kona2008/pages/jake%20the%20snake.html)
Although the Major Jake in the background doesn't have carbon seat stays, unlike the 2k7 model. the drivetrain components are perfectly obscured, but I assume those must make the difference (currently they're both 105) for 2k8. Unless the frame material is just something higher than Easton Ultralite.

They finally got my black handlebar tape in at ProBikeKit. I'm using it on my Devinci and it's great, plus it's only 3.39! Sweet tape! (http://www.probikekit.com/display.php?code=A1328) So I'll be buying a few rolls, and one in white, but since there's now $10 shipping, if anyone else wants to get in on my order let me know.

River trail was fun ... what the hell did I end up on, though?
Other side of the bridge/overpass, along the river for a bit more (on the right), through some overgrown singletrack and up some switchbacks along the ridge. Would that be *the* ridge trail?
Yes it would.
So... just finished my first metric of the year. 102.4 in 4:12. Not exactly tdf ready but a fun way to spend the afternoon. (and I bet I drink and smoke way more than those guys do!)
Turns out my quest to get out of the city was for naught, 'cause the most peaceful part of the ride was the humber valley. There was a couple times up north when I could hear just the wind in the grass and the hum of my tires... but for the most part it was cars screaming by at 100 instead of the usual 40 in the city.

Could be.. were you on the North or South side of the bridge? Or did you just cross over the road and head straight back in on the other side (since you said you followed the river, this is what I'm assuming). If that's the case you were likely on Catalyst.
oh yeah. I was thinking the bridge at the OTHER end!

I don't buy MEC tubes anymore. I buy Kendas from Keith. I do this for two reasons:
1) Keith is a pal and I'd rather buy from him
2) I had a string of defective tubes from MEC and I got annoyed with valve stems ripping from the tube, or snapping in half part way down the stem (yes the metal) or the twisty locky valve locking thingy bending/breaking too easily. It was seriously like 5 in a row.

Oh I think I heard about this paint job. It's the one that was white, then Ernesto himself vomited on it, then they clearcoated it. :D Seriously though that paint job doesn't do that frame justice. Don't get me wrong I love Colnago's crazy paintjobs in general. I just think this one falls short a bit, looks splotchy and kind of takes away from the nice lines of the frame.

i like the previous year's paint with respect to the paddy wagon - i believe it was blue. kona seems to put out some nice bikes. i even like the 10 year old mountain bikes i see rolling around.

Does anyone know of any decent/affordable accommodations in the downtown core? Or does anyone have a couch they can offer up for a weekend to a good friend of mine who's severely allergic to cats? :)

Looks like we have people here the weekend of the 21st and 28th, and I think I'm away this weekend. So it would seem I'm useless in this regard.

Are you looking for short term accomodations? What constitutes "downtown core". I may have a couple of leads.

Yeah, just looking for a couple nights. I don't know what the downtown core constitutes. As long as it's within say a 20 minute drive of my place I'm sure it'd be ok. PM if you have anything for me.

hey guys, i'm new to the forums and I've been pining for a fixed gear for quite a while but never actually went for it. So a couple weeks ago some crooked **** stole the rear wheel of my Kona cinder cone which i had been using to commute and i figure considering the cost of replacing the rear wheel is pretty high and it really isn't the ideal bike for commuting this is a good time to get a fixed gear. So i've looked around and have scrounged together a budget of about 600 tops but the only bike that fits in the price range is a fuji track at bikes on wheels. i rode it and liked it but i have trouble buying a bike for full price after getting such a good deal on my kona. Anyway, i was wondering what your opinions are. Is the fuji a good ride for 570$(taxes in) or is there something better that im overlooking? or even better maybe someone in t. has a used fixie they wanna sell? or barter for a kona (sans rear wheel)? thanks for your time guys.
