Rides and Races - Toronto Fixed

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I'll try to make it out as well.
Regards core training, check in with Cycletherapy, but I know Velotique has some core strengthening videos for rent. You can find basic routines online to get you started and the book Functional Training for Sports by Michael Boyle is available from the friendly library. It's sports generic but has some decent core strengthening routines and also touches on some less common ones like vacuum's to work the transversus abdominus.

I live.....
vis-a-vis core training....crunches. Fitness... Karate style.... same as the Kick FitTM for legs. I was going three times a week to Karate consistently for four months and I actually could see abs forming. Then I stopped going.

For those who are interested in doing Track 1 at Forest city:
http://www.pedalmag.com/index.php?module=Section&action=viewdetail&item_id=11449
speaking of Forest City, does anybody who's done track 1, 2, and 3 want to go out there some time and do track 4?

It's my birthday next Monday, so I'm having a little gathering at my place on Saturday evening starting at around 7:00. For those of you that don't know already, I'm already an old man, so don't show up at midnight expecting the party to just be getting going. I'll probably be giving everyone the stink eye by then. :P
Hopefully not everyone is going to be out of town for the long weekend!
BYOB... I ain't boozin' you lot up!

Is it just me or is there ALOT of cars, actually ripping right turns at reds? It seems the slow roll is being replaced by a 20kph right turn. At stop signs as well.

Apparently you're ahead of the game. :P
ps. don't forget to invite your wives and/or girlfriends. Preferably not at the same time though, that'd just be embarrassing.. although, potentially entertaining!
pps. Also: Tobys and Bradyns.
ppps. RSVP's would be nice as well. :)
to ppps, I will be unable to attend. I fly out to the flatlands TM on Saturday for a eleven days.

man.. soft tissue injuries suck. My "bumpy knuckles" hand is sore/stiff again after a silly little "tip over" spill during the race this weekend when I washed out rounding a muddy corner.

For tubes it would have to be much smaller to cause any problems...like a 23c tube in a 38c tire.
If your B.B. has no play and spins nicely without any binding it is prolly o.k. Quite often I have customers who think their B.B. is toast because it is creaking. 7 times out of 10 it just needs to be removed...the shell cleaned and greased and then re-installed. try this first...if it is still creaky after that then pick up a new one.also check yer chainring bolts and cranks bolts to make sure they are tight. Sham had a maddening creak that turned out to be one defective chainring bolt.

Same thing happened to me. Not a defective bolt, but just some loosey goosey ones.

Does anyone have any fav eating establishments in the UofT/Chinatown/Kensington area? I usually try and bring leftovers for lunch, but I eat out sometimes at lunch. I've got a pretty good list of regular places, but it's always nice to have a new option!

There is a drunken, disc golf game on the Island on Sunday. If anyone is interested I will post more details when I have them. :D
Also...anyone up for a Holiday Monday Mtn bike ride? I was thinking Albion or Ravenshoe.

Though it's a little further south for most of these:
Trek down to Burrito Boyz at Richmond/Peter.
Corned Beef House at Adelaide/Widmer rocks the big one.
Bangkok Paradise, New York Sub, Shanghai Cowgirl all on Queen St. W from Portland to Bathurst.
Chung King at Spadina/Oxford used to have their crispy szechuan beef meal for $5 or so, and was phenominal.
King's Noodle on Spadina at Dundas (north west side)
The Burrito place in Kensington has a pulled pork burrito - the only one I've had from there, but was good.
Way more of a trek but some seriously good eats can be found at College/Ossington in Phil's BBQ.
Enjoy, share.

I won't be around if there's a memorial ride so I'm heading up there after work today to lay some flowers at the shrine they've set up.

hrm.. both of those might be better options than a race. :)
I wouldn't mind hitting Albion again actually. Ravenshoe is fun, but I don't find there's enough variety and I've already been there twice this year. Although if I'm out-voted, that's fine too!

I would prolly prefer Albion as well. Not only more variety but a swim after.

"By the looks of things Zipp have had a fairly busy summer. They will present several things to the media and the Euro crowd in a few hours, and topping their tech list is tough, as they have revamped their wheel tech across the board and will also spring what is on paper, the highest performance cranks released anywhere to date in their new Vuma Quad…
Not satisfied with that, they’ve also come out with a wheel (The Sub 9) that, at 15 degrees yaw, actually produces NEGATIVE DRAG… No worries, as the tunnel numbers are also exceptional at 5- 10 and 20, but the tunnel data I’ve seen for these at 15 degrees is way cool... Minus 80 grams drag, so roughly 11 watts forward power!"

hahahaha.. yeah, I'll post up my pics on Flickr tonight. I have some choice ones of him.. :P
And yeah, anyone can buy 'em. But the CD is $80 for ALL photos for a bib in high-res.. or you can pay about $21 per 8x10" print. I figure it's easier to just get the CD and have all of team 188's photos and print whatever, whenever. That's what I meant.. whether there'd be anyone else interested in going in on the CD.

Well as they are sweet shots I am sure between you, me, Chris, Johnny and Emma we could get $80 together and just print em. Dan maybe not so much...not particularly flattering shots of him.
